Savolainen Osakunta
(abr. SavO; Swedish: ''Savolax nation,'' English: ''Savonian nation)'' is one of the 15 student nations at the University of Helsinki. It is one of the Finnish-speaking nations and was established in 1905. The nation premises have been on the new student house top floor, also known as "Vinni", since 1931. History The concept of student nations, divided by geografic area, was conceived in University of Paris, Sorbonne. When the Royal Academy of Turku was founded in 1640, the concept of nations was also present. The earliest mention of Savonians was in 1653. The present nation was founded on 1 October 1905 with Karjalainen Osakunta, when the two nations split from Savo-karjalainen osakunta. The anniversary day of SavO is 20 February, or the nearest Saturday or Sunday, in remembrance of the decree that Finnish was introduced to the courts and the authorities. Martti Nissinen
Martti Heikki Nissinen (born April 22, 1959 in Kuopio) is a Finnish theologian, serving since 2007 as Professor of Old Testament studies in the Faculty of Theology at the University of Helsinki. He is known as an expert of the prophetic phenomenon in the Hebrew Bible and the ancient Near East, but his research interests include also gender issues (love poetry, homoeroticism, masculinity) in the ancient Eastern Mediterranean. He has written and edited several books and a significant number of articles on topics related to prophecy, gender, and history of ancient Near Eastern religion. Nissinen received his Th.D. from the University of Helsinki in 1992, after which he held several research and teaching positions at this institution, such as Assistant Professor of Old Testament Studies (1985–1994) and as an Academy Research Fellow of the Academy of Finland (1994–2002). Olli Rehn
Olli Ilmari Rehn (; born 31 March 1962) is a Finnish public official who has been serving as governor of the Bank of Finland since 2018. A member of the Centre Party, he previously served as the European Commissioner for Enlargement from 2004 to 2010, European Commissioner for Economic and Monetary Affairs and the Euro from 2010 to 2014, and Minister of Economic Affairs in Juha Sipilä's cabinet from 2015 until 2016. Rehn ran for President of Finland as an independent candidate in 2024, but was not elected. Wermlands Nation
Wermlands Nation is one of thirteen Nation (university), student nations of Lund University in Sweden. It has 509 members and is thus the List of Lund University nations, smallest student nation in Lund - ranking behind Smålands Nation, Lund, Smålands Nation. History One of the oldest nations in Lund, Wermlands was founded in 1682 with the intention of uniting students from the Värmland region. It had four registered students at the time. Its first Inspektor, Johannes Eric Ahlström, was a professor of Roman poetry and rhetoric. In 1947, Wermlands built their first nation house in its current place, on Stora Tvärgatan 13. An extension wing was added to the house's west side by 1959. Around the same time, work started on a joint housing estate together with Kalmar Nation, Lund, Kalmar Nation and Blekingska Nationen on Måsvägen in western Lund.
