Sauøya
Sauøya is a small island located in Froan archipelago in Frøya Municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. The island has not had a permanent settlement since Tommy Rodahl moved from the island in 2010. Froan Chapel was built on the island in 1904. Farming is carried out in the area. Sauøya has some pasture and cultivated land and historically sheep were kept on the island. There is a significant influx of people to the island during the summer months. Most of the old homes on the island are now used as holiday cottages. There is no regular ferry connection to Sauøya in the winter, but there are up to several trips a week scheduled each summer. Froan Chapel
Froan Chapel () is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Frøya Municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. It is located on the island of Sauøy in the Froan islands. It is one of several churches for the Frøya parish which is part of the Orkdal prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Nidaros. The white, wooden church was built in a long church design in 1904 using plans drawn up by the architect Nils Ryjord. The church seats about 180 people. History By the 1890s, the people of the Froan islands were requesting their own church. The nearest church was Sletta Church (Frøya), Sletta Church, about across the ocean which was a long journey. The small island of Sauøya, in the northeastern part of the archipelago, was chosen for the site of the new chapel. It was built in 1904 using plans by Nils Ryjord. Froan
Froan (or ''Froøyene'') is a populated archipelago of small, rocky islands in Frøya Municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. Geography Froan consists of several hundred islands and islets that lie in the sea about west of the Fosen peninsula. The islands run for about in a northeasterly direction, parallel to the coastline. The island village of Halten, Trøndelag, Halten lies at the northern end of the island chain. Only a few of the islands are inhabited, and in 2017, the population was only 38. The Froan Chapel, built in 1904, is located on the island of Sauøya.
