Annie, Lady De Sausmarez
Annie Elizabeth, Lady de Sausmarez, Order of the British Empire, GBE ( Mann; 1856 – 15 March 1947) was a British philanthropist who was president of the British Women's Work Association in China from 1914 to 1919. For this she was appointed Dame Grand Cross of the Order of the British Empire (GBE) in the 1920 civilian war honours. Biography Sausmarez was born in Wyham cum Cadeby, Lincolnshire, England, the daughter of clergyman Frederick William Mann from Guernsey and Eleanor Mary Pattison from Yorkshire. She was the niece, through her mother, of Mark Pattison (academic), Mark Pattison, an Oxford academic. The family moved to Guernsey when she was young. In 1897, Sausmarez married Guernseyman Havilland de Sausmarez, a judge in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, Foreign Office Judicial Service. Eric Saumarez, 7th Baron De Saumarez
Eric Douglas Saumarez, 7th Baron de Saumarez (born 13 August 1956), is a British hereditary peer. Early life Born and brought up in Suffolk, Saumarez is the son of James Victor Broke Saumarez, 6th Baron de Saumarez, by his marriage to Joan Beryl Charlton. He was educated at Milton Abbey School in Dorset, the University of Nottingham, and the Royal Agricultural University, Royal Agricultural College, Cirencester. Career In 1991, upon the death of his father, Saumarez succeeded to the title of Baron de Saumarez, of Guernsey, and was a member of the House of Lords until it was reformed by the House of Lords Act 1999. In 2003 he was living at the family estate of Shrubland Park, Coddenham, but sold it in 2006. He later settled on the island of Guernsey, where his family originated. Havilland De Sausmarez
Sir Havilland Walter de Sausmarez, 1st Baronet (30 May 1861 – 5 March 1941) was a judge of various British colonial or consular courts in Africa and Asia, the Ottoman Empire and China. His last judicial position before retirement was chief judge of the British Supreme Court for China. He later served as bailiff of Guernsey. Early life Sausmarez was born on 30 May 1861, the son of the reverend Havilland de Sausmarez by his marriage to Anne Priaulx Walters. He was a scholar at Westminster, where he had a fine athletic record, including being Head of the Water. From there he went to Trinity College, Cambridge, where he continued his career as an athlete and graduated BA in 1883. In 1881, while still at Cambridge, he was admitted to the Inner Temple. He was called to the Bar in November 1884. He practised as a barrister in England on the Southern Eastern Circuit and then moved to Africa, where he began to practise in Lagos, Nigeria, in 1891. Captain Philip de Saumarez (17 November 1710 – 14 October 1747) was a Royal Navy officer best known for his role in capturing the French ship ''Mars'' and as the first lieutenant of George Anson, 1st Baron Anson in his voyage around the world. He designed what would eventually be the first uniforms of the Royal Navy. Early life Philip de Saumarez was born in 1710, to Matthew de Saumarez and Anne Durell, daughter of John Durell and Ann Dumaresq. Saumarez had many notable naval officers in his family.
