Sau Mau Ping
Sau Mau Ping () is an area part of Kwun Tong District, in eastern Kowloon, Hong Kong. Name Its Chinese name was formerly So Mau Ping (), but this was often mis-rendered So Mo Ping (), meaning a place to 'Ancestor worship, visit one's ancestors'. In fact, during World War II, much of the area was used as a cemetery. The Chinese name was considered inappropriate for a residential area and so it was changed to the current one, meaning "nice and prosperous". History In August 1976, eighteen people were killed in one landslip in Sau Mau Ping, as a consequence of Tropical Storm Ellen (1976), tropical storm Ellen. Features Sau Mau Ping was part of the early Kwun Tong District, Kwun Tong satellite city in Hong Kong. United Christian Hospital
United Christian Hospital is a Christian-founded district general hospital in Kwun Tong of New Kowloon in Hong Kong, operated by the Hospital Authority. The hospital has 1,600 beds and 3,000 staff, serving eastern Kowloon. United Christian Hospital was founded in 1973 by the Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospital and Hong Kong Christian Council. The hospital first chief of medical superintendent was Dr. Edward Hamilton Paterson. History United Christian Hospital was planned as a 350-bed voluntary hospital by the ''Special Committee on the United Protestant Hospital'' of the Hong Kong Christian Council and Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Foundation in 1968. Smart and Green Mass Transit System in East Kowloon () is a proposed Hong Kong rapid transit line that would run from Diamond Hill to Tseung Kwan O New Town. The route would pass through the hilly Sau Mau Ping residential area, which is not directly served by any local railway service at present. Kwun Tong Station
Kwun Tong () is a List of MTR stations, station on the MTR in Hong Kong. The station opened on 1 October 1979 as the eastern terminal station, terminus of the first phase of the Kwun Tong line until the Eastern Harbour Crossing to Quarry Bay opened on 6 August 1989. It is located in the Kwun Tong area, between and stations. The station is elevated and open-air, unlike almost every other station on the line. Only Ngau Tau Kok and stations are like this. Due to difficulties in installing platform screen doors (PSDs) in above ground stations, the MTR decided not to install PSDs in this station, instead installing automatic platform gates (APGs) on the station's platforms in 2011. Tseung Kwan O New Town, commonly known as Tseung Kwan O ( zh, t=將軍澳新市鎮, j=Zoeng1 gwan1 ou3 san1 si5 zan3), is one of the nine New towns of Hong Kong, new towns in Hong Kong, built mainly on Land reclamation in Hong Kong, reclaimed land in the northern half of Junk Bay in southeastern New Territories, after which it is named. Tseung Kwan O Tunnel
Tseung Kwan O Tunnel () is a 900-metre tunnel beneath Ma Yau Tong in Hong Kong. The tunnel was opened on 9 November 1990. Part of Route 7, it links Sau Mau Ping, Kwun Tong, Kowloon and the Tseung Kwan O New Town, Sai Kung District, the New Territories. It was used by 80,385 vehicles daily in 2011. The flat toll fee for the tunnel is HK$3 since opening. The toll fee has been waived since the opening of Tseung Kwan O–Lam Tin Tunnel on 11 December 2022. This tunnel is connected to Tseung Kwan O Road on the Kowloon side along with its toll plaza, and Tseung Kwan O Tunnel Road on the Tseung Kwan O side.
