The thirty-second season of ''Saturday Night Live'', an American sketch comedy series, originally aired in the United States on NBC between September 30, 2006, and May 19, 2007. History As in the previous season, The Lonely Island created another popular SNL Digital Short that aired around Christmas time; this time, it was the R&B video spoof "Dick in a Box" (featuring host Justin Timberlake). The short won a Creative Arts Emmy for Outstanding Music and Lyrics. Cast Before the start of the season, the show suffered "massive budget cuts" at NBC. Lorne Michaels said that cutting staff was chosen over reducing from 20 the number of original episodes produced. As a result, longtime cast members Chris Parnell and Horatio Sanz, who had both been on the show for eight seasons since 1998, were fired from the show, along with Finesse Mitchell, who had been a cast member for three seasons since 2003. The twenty-fifth season of ''Saturday Night Live'' (also branded ''Saturday Night Live 25'' and ''SNL25''), an American sketch comedy series, originally aired in the United States on NBC between October 2, 1999, and May 20, 2000. Cast There were no changes to the cast prior to the start of this season, as everyone from the previous season returned. Jimmy Fallon, Horatio Sanz, and Chris Parnell were all promoted to repertory status. Donald Roy King (born October 9, 1947) is an American television director. He served as the director for ''Saturday Night Live'' from 2006 until 2021. He has "directed more hours of live network television than anyone else in the history of television," according to Michael Chein. He has won a number of Emmys, among other awards. ''Weekend Update'' is a ''Saturday Night Live'' sketch and satirical news program that comments on and parodies current events. It is the show's longest-running recurring sketch, having been on since the show's first broadcast and been featured in the vast majority of episodes since. It is typically presented in the middle of the show immediately after the first musical performance, and with some exceptions is the only sketch not to feature the episode's host. The format of the sketch involves one or two of the players cast in the role of news anchor, presenting news headlines based on current events that are immediately followed by a gag commentary that twists the context into something humorous.
