Satish Manwar
Satish Manwar is an Indian film director and screenwriter. He grew up in a rural Maharashtra and moved to Pune to learn drama at Center for Performing Arts, commonly known as ''Lalit Kala Kendra'', at Pune University. After receiving his M.A. in 1998, he moved to Mumbai to work as an assistant editor and assistant director. He along with his fellow friends and alumni of ''Lalit Kala Kendra'' co-founded a theatre group called ''Lalit Mumbai''. His work often deals with the differences between rural and urban areas. Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU), formerly the University of Poona, is a collegiate public state university located in the city of Pune, India. ''Gabhricha Paus'' ( mr, Gabhricha Paus, English: ''The Damned Rain'') is a 2009 Marathi-language film written and directed by Satish Manwar. Gabhricha Paus has been produced by Prashant Penthe and released on 10 July 2009. Plot The film is about the life of a farmer Kisna ( Girish Kulkarni), who is trying to get a good crop in the drought-stricken Vidarbha region, which has been notorious for farmer suicides. It also allegorically tells about how lack of information and education amongst the farmers, can ruin them, despite their indefatigable spirit. After, the debt-ridden neighbour Bhaskar Deshmukh commits suicide, amongst many other farmers of the region, Kisna's wife Alka (Sonali Kulkarni) observes Kisna's aloofness and interprets that Kisna is contemplating suicide too. The National Film Award for Best Film on Other Social Issues is one of the category in the National Film Awards presented annually by the Directorate of Film Festivals, the organization set up by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting in India. Manaswini Lata Ravindra is a Marathi playwright, screenwriter and director, known for writing the play '' Amar Photo Studio'' and also being one of the writers of the Marathi sitcom '' Dil Dosti Duniyadari''.
