Jason Jermane Sasser (born January 13, 1974) is an American former professional basketball player. Standing at and weighing , Sasser played as small forward. He graduated from Justin F. Kimball High School in Dallas, Texas, and played college basketball for the Texas Tech Red Raiders. He competed in the NBA from 1997 to 1999. Sasser represented the US national team at the 1998 FIBA World Championship, where the team won the bronze medal. He was selected with the 12th pick of the second round in the 1996 NBA draft by the Sacramento Kings. Over two NBA seasons, he played for three different teams. Outside the NBA, Sasser played in the Continental Basketball Association (CBA) for the Gary Steelheads and Yakama Sun Kings. He was selected as the CBA Rookie of the Year in 1997 and named to the All-CBA First Team in 1999 and Second Team in 1997. Sean Franklin Sasser (October 25, 1968 – August 7, 2013) was an American educator, activist, pastry chef, and reality television personality best known for his appearances on MTV's '' The Real World: San Francisco'', which depicted his relationship with fellow AIDS activist Pedro Zamora. Although not one of the original cast members himself, Sasser's relationship with Zamora was one of the focal points of that season. Mathlynn Langtor Sasser-Robert (born December 25, 1996) is a Marshallese-born American weightlifter who currently represents the Marshall Islands. Career Sasser competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics in the women's 58 kg event, in which she placed eleventh. She was the flag bearer for the Marshall Islands at the 2016 Parade of Nations. As a dual citizen of both the Marshall Islands and the United States, she switched her sporting nationality in international competition and attempted to qualify for the United States team for the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan. She was injured during qualification, however, and required knee surgery. In 2023, she switched back to the Marshall Islands again to qualify for the 2024 games. Marcus Jerome Sasser Jr. (born September 21, 2000) is an American professional basketball player for the Detroit Pistons of the National Basketball Association (NBA). James Ralph Sasser (September 30, 1936 – September 10, 2024) was an American politician, diplomat, and attorney from Tennessee. A member of the Democratic Party, he served three terms as a member of the United States Senate from 1977 to 1995, and was Chairman of the United States Senate Committee on the Budget. From 1996 to 1999, during the Clinton Administration, he was the United States Ambassador to China. Jeryl Henry Braxton Sasser (born February 13, 1979) is an American former professional basketball player who last played for Al Arabi in Kuwait. Sasser played college basketball for the SMU Mustangs and professionally in the NBA for the Orlando Magic. Born in Dallas, Texas, Sasser graduated from Justin F. Kimball High School and played college basketball at Southern Methodist University. He was selected by the Orlando Magic as the 22nd pick in the 2001 NBA draft.
