Sascha-Film, in full Sascha-Filmindustrie AG and from 1933 Tobis-Sascha-Filmindustrie AG, was the largest Austrian film production company of the silent film and early sound film period. History The business was established in 1910 by Alexander Kolowrat, Alexander Joseph "Sascha", Count Kolowrat-Krakowsky as the ''Sascha-Filmfabrik'' ("Sascha Film Factory") in Přimda, Pfraumberg in Bohemia, and relocated in 1912 to Vienna. On 10 September 1918, after the merger with the film distributors Philipp & Pressburger, the business became the ''Sascha-Filmindustrie AG''. He persuades her to give up her stage career, and they take a cottage in the country. She accepts an invitation from her former manager ( Georges Treville) to attend a party. She performs a dance at the party. She quarrels with her husband, but starts searching for him in the countryside on a stormy night. As a result, she catches pneumonia and nearly dies. Paul Frank (full name Paul Frank Sunich, born August 29, 1967 in Huntington Beach, California) is an American cartoonist, artist and fashion designer. He is the creator of all the characters from Paul Frank Industries, including Julius the monkey. Early life and education During the 1990s, Sunich was an art student at Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa, California. Career He bought a sewing machine in order to complete small projects. One day, he used some spare orange vinyl to create a wallet and after seeing his work, his friends expressed interest in other accessories, so he began to sew items such as guitar straps and backpacks. A few years later, Sunich formed Paul Frank Industries (his first and middle name) along with his partners Ryan Heuser and John Oswald, in order to keep up with the demand for his products. ''Heldenkampf in Schnee und Eis'' (''Heroes' Fight in Snow and Ice'') is a 1917 Austro-Hungarian propaganda newsreel film made by Sascha-Film for the Imperial and Royal War Press Headquarters. The film is hand-coloured and presented in two sections, with a total running time of 49 minutes 50 seconds. Background The creator of ''Heldenkampf in Schnee und Eis'' remains unknown, but it may have been the work of the cameraman and later director Gustav Ucicky. At that time, film was still a very new form of propaganda. ''Ein Heldenkampf in Schnee und Eis'' consists of exterior shots on the Alpine front in Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol, where battles were being fought in the mountains at 2,000 to 3,000 meters. Hubert Marischka (27 August 1882 – 4 December 1959), brother of Ernst Marischka, was an Austrian operetta tenor, actor, film director and screenwriter. Career Marischka was born in Brunn am Gebirge, the son of Jiří (or Johann) Marischka, a supplier to the court of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, and his wife Bertha. Hubert began work as a joiner but trained as a singer and in 1904 began a new career in operetta in the town theatre of St. Pölten in ''Der arme Jonathan'' by Karl Millöcker. He had his first success as a singer in Brünn in 1906, as Danilo in ''Die lustige Witwe''. On 27 July 1907 he sang at the premiere of the '' Der fidele Bauer'' by Leo Fall in Mannheim.
