Sarto Fournier (15 February 1908 – 23 July 1980) Obituary, age 72. was a Canadian politician. He served as mayor of Montreal from 1957 to 1960. Biography Born in East Broughton, Quebec to a family of Quebecois and Italian-Canadian origin, he graduated in law from McGill University and formally entered law practice in 1938. Fournier was first elected to the House of Commons of Canada as a Liberal in the 1935 election and was subsequently re-elected in 1940, 1945, and 1949. He became the youngest member of the Senate in 1953 and served until his death. He studied law at McGill University and at the Université de Montréal. He was only 27 when he became the Liberal MP for Maisonneuve-Rosemont. He was re-elected in 1940, 1945, and 1949. He was called to the bar in 1938. In 1953, he entered the senate, called by Prime Minister Louis Saint-Laurent. After two previous attempts in 1950 and 1954, he was elected mayor of Montreal in 1957. Pope Pius X (; born Giuseppe Melchiorre Sarto; 2 June 1835 – 20 August 1914) was head of the Catholic Church from 4 August 1903 to his death in August 1914. Pius X is known for vigorously opposing modernist interpretations of Catholic doctrine, and for promoting liturgical reforms and Thomist scholastic theology. Maria Sabrina Sarto (born 1968) is an Italian nanotechnologist whose research involves carbon structures including graphene nanoplates and carbon nanowires, with applications including electromagnetic shielding and composite materials for aerospace. She is a professor in and head of the Department of Astronautical, Electrical, and Energy Engineering at Sapienza University of Rome. Education and career Sarto was born in 1968 in Rome. She earned a laurea in engineering (the Italian equivalent of a master's degree) in 1992 at Sapienza University of Rome, and completed a Ph.D. there in 1997. Mario Sarto (13 October 1885 – 13 September 1955) was an important sculptor of religious and commemorative art, renowned for the vast statuary present in the Monumental Cemetery of Bologna.
