Sarbjit (film)
Sarbjit is a 2016 Indian Hindi-language biographical drama film directed by Omung Kumar and produced by Pooja Entertainment, T-Series Films and Legend Studios Pvt. Ltd. The film stars Aishwarya Rai Bachchan alongside Randeep Hooda who portrays the role of Sarabjit Singh, an Indian man who was sentenced to death by the Supreme Court of Pakistan in 1991 and spent 22 years in prison for alleged terrorism and spying. Richa Chadda, and Darshan Kumar play supporting roles. ''Sarbjit'' was made on a production budget of 15 crore and earned 43.88 crore worldwide after its two-week theatrical run. It premiered at the 69th Cannes Film Festival and released theatrically on 20 May 2016 to a mixed response from critics. Omung Kumar
Omung Kumar Bhandula is an Indian film director, film production designer, and television host known for his work in Hindi films. He worked as an art director for the films ''Black'' (2005), and ''Saawariya'' (2007), before making his directorial debut in 2014 with the biographical sports drama ''Mary Kom'' starring Priyanka Chopra. The film was a critical and commercial success. He and the film received several awards and nominations, including the National Film Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment.
