Sarangani, officially the Province of Sarangani (; ; Maguindanao language, Maguindanaon: ''Dairat nu Sarangani'', Jawi Alphabet, Jawi: دايرت نو سرڠان; ), is a Provinces of the Philippines, province in the Philippines located in the Soccsksargen Regions of the Philippines, region. Alabel, officially the Municipality of Alabel (Cebuano language, Cebuano: ''Lungsod sa Alabel''; Maguindanao language, Maguindanaon: ''Inged nu Alabil'', Jawi Alphabet, Jawi: ايڠد نو ءلبيل; ), is a municipality of the Philippines, municipality and capital of the Philippine Province, province of Sarangani, Philippines. Sarangani Provincial Board
The Sarangani Provincial Board is the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (provincial legislature) of the Philippine province of Sarangani . The members are elected via plurality-at-large voting: the province is divided into two districts, the first district sending four members, and the second district sending six members to the provincial board; the number of candidates the electorate votes for and the number of winning candidates depends on the number of members their district sends. The vice governor is the ''ex officio'' presiding officer, and only votes to break ties. The vice governor is elected via the plurality voting system province-wide. Sarangani Bay is a bay located on the southern tip of Mindanao in the Philippines. It opens up to the Celebes Sea on the Pacific Ocean. Steve Solon
Steve Chiongbian Solon (born March 3, 1971) is a Filipino businessman and politician who has served as the representative for Sarangani's at-large district since 2022. He previously served as the fourth governor of Sarangani from 2013 to 2022 and as vice governor from 2007 to 2013. The grandson of James and Priscilla Chiongbian, who served as representative and governor, respectively, Solon carries a background in business. Glan, officially the Municipality of Glan (; , Jawi: ايڠد نوڠلن; ), is a municipality in the province of Sarangani, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 109,547 people. Glan is the most populous municipality in Sarangani and it is located east of Sarangani Bay, west of Davao Occidental, and north of the Celebes Sea. Kiamba, officially the Municipality of Kiamba (; , Jawi: ايڠد نو كيامب; ), is a municipality in the province of Sarangani, Philippines. People's Champ Movement
The People's Champ Movement (PCM) is a political party in the Philippines, currently affiliated with the PROMDI and previously the United Nationalist Alliance. It is led by Manny Pacquiao, who founded the party, and is mainly based in General Santos and Sarangani. The party also ran for a seat in the congress in the 2019 elections, but they ranked 97 out of 134 running party-lists, thus not winning a seat. Legislative District Of Sarangani
The legislative districts of Sarangani are the representations of the province of Sarangani in the Congress of the Philippines. The province is currently represented in the lower house of the Congress through its lone congressional district. History Prior to gaining separate representation, areas now under the jurisdiction of Sarangani were represented under the Department of Mindanao and Sulu (1917–1935), the undivided province of Cotabato (1935–1967), Region XI (1978–1984) and South Cotabato (1967–1972; 1984–1995).
