Sarah Wyss
Sarah Wyss (born, 3 August 1988, Basel) is a Swiss politician of the Social Democratic Party of Switzerland (SP). Since December 2020 she is a member of the National Council of Switzerland. Education and early life She was born in Basel, but was raised in Münchenstein, Canton Basel-Landschaft. After initially having studied economic sciences and history, she earned a Master of Sciences in European Studies from the Europa Institute at the University of Basel in 2015. Political career Her political career she began with the SP. She presided the cantonal youth wing of the SP, the Young Socialists of Canton Basel-Stadt between 2009 and 2012. In 2012, she was elected as a member of the Grand Council of Basel Stadt, a post she assumed in 2013 and was re-elected in 2016 and 2020. National Council (Switzerland)
The National Council (german: Nationalrat; french: Conseil national; it, Consiglio nazionale; rm, Cussegl naziunal) is the lower house of the Federal Assembly of Switzerland, the upper house being the Council of States. With 200 seats, the National Council is the larger of the two houses. Adult citizens elect the council's members, who are called National Councillors, for four year terms. These members are apportioned to the Swiss cantons in proportion to their population. Both houses meet in the Federal Palace of Switzerland in Bern. Canton Of Basel-Stadt
Basel-Stadt or Basel-City (german: Kanton ; rm, Chantun Basilea-Citad; french: Canton de Bâle-Ville; it, Canton Basilea Città) is one of the 26 cantons forming the Swiss Confederation. It is composed of three municipalities with Basel as the capital. It is traditionally considered a " half-canton", the other half being Basel-Landschaft, its rural counterpart. Beat Jans (born 12 July 1964, Basel) is a Swiss politician of the Social Democratic Party (SP) and a member of the National Council of Switzerland. Education He completed his apprenticeship as a farmer in 1985 and followed up on his studies at the Technical college for tropical agriculture from where he graduated as an agricultural technician in 1987.
