Sarah Tucker (diplomat)
Sarah Georgina Tucker (born 1968) has served as Governor of Montserrat since 6 April 2022. Early life Tucker was born in 1968. She is married to Howard John Tucker, and has adult sons. Tucker worked at Gallaher Group from 1994 to 2007. From 2008 to 2011, she was Director and Owner of Tickling the Trout Ltd. Government Tucker first entered government service as a Deputy Commercial Director for the Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) from 2011 to 2016. After taking unpaid leave to become a Director at Pencabe Associates Ltd, she returned to the FCO as Director of Corporate Capability from 2017 to 2020. Following a short stint as FCDO Head of Cruise Repatriation, Tucker became the FCDO Director of Strategy for the British Virgin Islands in 2020. The Premier of Montserrat is the head of government of the British Overseas Territory of Montserrat. The Premier is appointed by the Governor of Montserrat on behalf of the monarch of the United Kingdom, currently King Charles III. The current Premier of Montserrat is Easton Taylor-Farrell of the Movement for Change and Prosperity. The Premier is appointed by the Governor from among the members of the Legislative Assembly, which consists of nine elected members. Between 1960 and 2011 the position was known as the Chief Minister of Montserrat, this changed on 27 September 2011 when the Montserrat Constitution Order 2010 took effect. The first Premier of Montserrat was Reuben Meade, who was also the last Chief Minister. The Queen's Baton Relay for the 2022 Commonwealth Games covered 90,000 miles and visited 72 Commonwealth nations and territories from Birmingham Airport. The Montserrat Secondary School, often referred to for short as MSS, is the only pre-16 years of age secondary school on the island of Montserrat. The school's campus is currently located in Salem. Prior to 2004 it was responsible for Montserrat's sixth-form education (post-16); currently Montserrat Community College (MCC) now offers Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examinations (CAPE) sixth-form classes. History It was established by the 1938 merger of a government boys' secondary school, Montserrat Boys Grammar School, and a private girls' secondary school. Originally not all Montserrat citizens had the right to a secondary education, and the school chose which students may be admitted. Royal Montserrat Defence Force
The Royal Montserrat Defence Force is the home defence unit of the British Overseas Territory of Montserrat.
