Sarah Mortensen
Sarah Sofie Mortensen (born 9 May 1997) is a Danish professional basketball player for the Cockburn Cougars of the NBL1 West. She played college basketball for the University of Miami and Villanova University. Mortensen is a member of the Danish national team. Early life and career Mortensen hails from Copenhagen, Denmark. She played two seasons for Falcon in the Dameligaen in 2013–14 and 2014–15. In 15 games in her second season, she averaged 18.1 points and 9.0 rebounds per game. Mortensen moved to the United States in 2015 to attend Long Island Lutheran Middle and High School in Brookville, New York. In her one season there, she led the school to the class AA state championship game by averaging 22.5 points, 9.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game. In the sport of basketball, there are five players play per team, each assigned to positions. Historically, these players have been assigned, to positions defined by the role they play on the court, from a strategic point of view. The three main positions are guard, forward, and center, with the standard team featuring two guards, two forwards, and a center. The 2025 NBL1 West season is the fifth season of the NBL1 West and 36th overall in State Basketball League (SBL) / NBL1 West history. The regular season began on Friday 4 April and will end on Saturday 2 August. The finals will begin on Friday 8 August and conclude with both the women's grand final and the men's grand final on Saturday 23 August. Basket Liga Kobiet (BLK), currently known for sponsorship reasons as Energa Basket Liga Kobiet (EBLK; 2001–2013 Polska Liga Koszykówki Kobiet, PLKK) is a professional women's club basketball league in Poland. It constitutes the first and highest-tier level of the Polish league pyramid. The winning team of the final round are crowned the Polish Champions of that season. The Damen-Basketball-Bundesligen GmbH (DBBL) is a company founded in June 2001, which manages the first and the two second federal leagues of women's basketball in Germany. The Villanova Wildcats are the athletic teams of Villanova University. They compete in the Big East (NCAA Division I) for every sport; except football and rowing where they compete in the Colonial Athletic Association (Football Championship Subdivision, formerly Division I-AA).
