The Sapucaà Mirim Environmental Protection Area () is an environmental protection area in the state of São Paulo, Brazil. Location The Sapucaà Mirim Environmental Protection Area is divided between the municipalities of Santo Antônio do Pinhal (34.26%) and São Bento do Sapucaà (65.74%) in the state of São Paulo. It has an area of . The APA protects part of the Mantiqueira Mountains, an imposing range covered by dense forest in the transition from Atlantic Forest to higher Araucaria forest. It protects the remnants of native vegetation of the region, the associated fauna and the headwaters of the Sapucaà River, which supplies water to 40 municipalities in Minas Gerais. São Bento Do SapucaÃ
São Bento do Sapucaà is a Brazilian municipality in São Paulo state. Once known as a religious and traditional town, the municipality of São Bento do SapucaÃ, now with its population reaching 10,000 inhabitants, is known for its mild weather, beautiful landscapes, and great conditions for the practice of many action sports. Santo Antônio do Pinhal is a municipality in the state of São Paulo in Brazil. It is part of the Metropolitan Region of Vale do ParaÃba e Litoral Norte. The Sapucaà River () is a river of the states of São Paulo and Minas Gerais in southeastern Brazil. It is a tributary of the Rio Grande. Course The headwaters of the river are protected by the Sapucaà Mirim Environmental Protection Area, created in 1998. The Fernão Dias Environmental Protection Area, created in 1997, also protects some of the headwaters. In its upper reaches in São Paulo state, the Sapucaà River flows through the Campos do Jordão State Park, created in 1941. To the north of the park, for a short section, the Sapucaà forms the border between São Paulo and Minas Gerais, before flowing north into Minas Gerais.
