Santiago, (also San Iago, San Tiago, Santyago, Sant-Yago, San Thiago) is a male Spanish name that derives from the Hebrew name Jacob (''Ya'akov'') via "Sant Iago", "Sant Yago", "Santo Iago", or "Santo Yago", first used to denote Saint James the Great, the brother of John the Apostle.New York, E. Santiago "Santi" Freixa i Escudé (born 13 February 1983) is a Spanish field hockey coach and former player who played for the Spain national team as a forward. In November 2015, Freixa received the Athletes in Excellence Award from The Foundation for Global Sports Development, in recognition of his community service efforts and work with youth. Club career Freixa played in Spain for his local club Atètic Terrassa until 2006, when he joined Dutch club Amsterdam in Amstelveen. Santiago Fernández (footballer, Born 1985)
Santiago Fernández Fernández (born 7 March 1985) is a Mexican former football forward who last played for Club Puebla in Liga MX. Once hailed as one of Club América's (and Mexico's) top footballing prospects, Fernández disappeared from the sport after a brief spell in FC Barcelona's youth squad, only to resurface a few years later for América. Santiago Roman Espinal (born November 13, 1994) is a Dominican professional baseball infielder for the Toronto Blue Jays of Major League Baseball (MLB). He was drafted by the Boston Red Sox in the 10th round of the 2016 Major League Baseball draft. Santiago José Carrillo Solares (18 January 1915 – 18 September 2012) was a Spanish politician who served as General Secretary of the Communist Party of Spain (PCE) from 1960 to 1982. José Santiago Cañizares Ruiz (; born 18 December 1969) is a Spanish former footballer who played as a goalkeeper, currently a rally driver.
