Santasri Chatterjee
Santasri Chatterjee (born 10 May 1940) is a former member of the 14th Lok Sabha of India. He represented the Serampore constituency of West Bengal and a member of the Communist Party of India (Marxist). In 2009, he lost to Kalyan Banerjee of Trinamool Congress. Hooghly (town)
Hugli-Chuchura (), also known by its former names Chinsurah or Hooghly-Chinsurah, is a city of Hooghly district and the district headquarters of Hooghly division in the Indian state of West Bengal. The Communist Party of India (CPI) is a political party in India. The CPI considers the December 26, 1925 Cawnpore (Kanpur) conference as its foundation date. Between 1946 and 1951, the CPI led militant struggles such as the peasant revolt in Telangana, organising guerrilla warfare against feudal lords. The CPI was the main opposition party in India during the 1950s to 1960s. In 1964, a split in the CPI led to the formation of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), which eventually emerged as the larger of the two parties.
