Santana (), short form for ''Santa Ana'' (meaning Saint Anne) is a municipality along the northern coast of the island of Madeira, in the Portuguese archipelago of the same name. Madeira Island
Madeira is a Portuguese island, and is the largest and most populous of the Madeira Archipelago. It has an area of , including Ilhéu de Agostinho, Ilhéu de São Lourenço, Ilhéu Mole (northwest). As of 2021, Madeira had a total population of 245,595. The island is the top of a massive submerged shield volcano that rises about from the floor of the Atlantic Ocean. The volcano formed atop an east–west rift in the oceanic crust along the African Plate, beginning during the Miocene epoch over 5 million years ago, continuing into the Pleistocene until about 700,000 years ago. This was followed by extensive erosion, producing two large amphitheatres open to south in the central part of the island. São Jorge (Santana)
São Jorge () is a civil parish in the municipality of Santana, in the island of Madeira. The population in 2011 was 1,473, in an area of . History São Jorge was created in 1515, and benefitted from the patronage of King Manuel I of Portugal when it was merely a religious parish. These revelations were documented in the archives of the ''Torre do Tombo'', and also included many of the pieces and religious artefacts donated by the King to the first Church of São Jorge. The first settlers to this parish occupied the areas in the ''Sítio do Calhau''. Theodósio Clemente de Gouveia GCC GCIH (13 May 1889 – 6 February 1962) was a Portuguese Cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church, who served as Archbishop of Lourenço Marques in Mozambique from 1940 until his death, and was elevated to the cardinalate in 1946 by Pope Pius XII. Porto Santo

Faial is a civil parish in the Madeiran municipality of Santana located along the northern coast of the island of Madeira. The population in 2011 was 1,567, in an area of 24.03 km². History It was founded on February 20, 1550 by settlers who chose the name ''Faial'', for the common name for the Myrica faya, shrubs that are indigenous to the area, growing within the valleys between the mountains. As later recounted, the settlers: :''"Seeing a site of Faias, where the sea is more gentle, with an ideal panorama, that perfect corner, is the vista of Faial."''
