Santa Maria Assunta, Grignasco
Santa Maria Assunta (St Mary of the Assumption) is a late-Baroque architecture, Baroque style, Roman Catholic parish church located in the town of Grignasco, in the Province of Novara in the region of Piedmont, Italy. The small parish church was designed by the Piedmontese architect Bernardo Vittone. History and description The church was erected starting in 1751 and completed in 1770. The church has a centralized plan. The interior stucco was completed by Francesco Pellegrino and Giovanni Battista Morazzone. The scenographic staircases with a fountain in front of the elaborate convex facade were designed by Vittone, but completed posthumously. Baroque Architecture
Baroque architecture is a highly decorative and theatrical style which appeared in Italy in the late 16th century and gradually spread across Europe. It was originally introduced by the Catholic Church, particularly by the Jesuits, as a means to combat the Reformation and the Protestantism, Protestant church with a new architecture that inspired surprise and awe. The province of Novara () is a Provinces of Italy, province in the Piedmont region of Italy. Its capital is the city of Novara. Bernardo Vittone

He was one of the three most important Baroque architects active in the Piedmont region of Northern Italy; the other two were Filippo Juvarra and Guarino Guarini. The youngest of the three, Vittone was the only one who was born in Piedmont. He achieved a synthesis of the spatial inventiveness of Juvarra and the engineering ingenuity of Guarini, particularly in the design of his churches, the buildings for which he is best known. Life and works Vittone was born in Turin into a mercantile family. Giuseppe Mazzola (December 5, 1748 – November 24, 1838) was an Italian painter born in Valduggia. Biography He studied briefly with Martin Knoller, then in the Academy of Parma, and later under Anton Raphael Mengs. He was the successor of Knoller as teacher of painting at the Brera Academy as well as conservator of the Pinacoteca. He lost his right hand at 40 years of age, and began painting with left hand.
