Sansanee Sthirasuta
Sansanee Sthirasuta (, ; 1953 – 7 December 2021), better known as Mae Chee Sansanee, was a Thai Theravada Buddhist spiritual teacher and ''maechi'' (Thai Buddhist nun). She was known for teaching meditative practices and encouraging the role of women in Buddhism, and was the founder of Sathira-Dhammasthan, a learning centre and spiritual retreat in Bangkok. Sansanee was born Sansanee Panyasiri (). She left her hometown in Ayutthaya province Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, or locally and simply Ayutthaya (historically Juthia or Judia), is one of the central provinces (''changwat'') of Thailand. Mae Nee Sansanee Sathien Sut
Mae (stylized mae) is an American rock band that formed in Norfolk, Virginia in 2001. The band's name is an acronym for "Multisensory Aesthetic Experience", based on a course taken by drummer Jacob Marshall while a student at Old Dominion University. History Early years with Tooth and Nail (2001–2006) Jacob Marshall and Dave Elkins began what would become Mae by writing their first song, "Embers and Envelopes", in Marshall's living room. The band signed with Tooth and Nail Records and released their first album, '' Destination: Beautiful'', in 2003. They released their second full-length album, ''The Everglow'', in 2005. Maechi
Maechi or Mae Chee (; ), "respected mother" (แม่ + honorific suffix "- ji"), are Theravada Buddhist Nuns in Thailand. As female monastics ordained under The Eight or Ten Precepts (i.e., more than the Five Precepts taken by laypersons), they formally occupy a position similar to sāmaṇerī and wear white robes, but are in practice resemblant of Theravāda bhikkhus - renunciants who have dedicated their life to Buddhist practice, meditation, vowing celibacy and ascetisicm. Sthira Sthirasuta (also spelled Sathien Sathirasut, etc., , ; 1926 – 9 December 2017) was a Thai real estate developer and socialite, known as an art collector, stable owner, Muay Thai promoter, and Buddhist benefactor. Sthira was born into a land-owning family. He attended school at Vajiravudh College and received education in the United Kingdom. From the family's holdings, he developed the Ploenchit Arcade shopping centre, and later managed The Regent Bangkok hotel. He was a member of high society, known for his colourful lifestyle and gangster reputation. He had large collections of art and Buddha amulets, and was a stable-owner, his horses regularly racing at the Pathum Wan and Nang Loeng racecourses.
