Sanremo 1998
The Sanremo Music Festival 1998 (), officially the 48th Italian Song Festival (), was the 48th annual Sanremo Music Festival, held at the Teatro Ariston in Sanremo in late February 1998 and broadcast by (RAI). The show was presented by Raimondo Vianello, supported by Eva Herzigová and Veronica Pivetti. According to the rules of this edition, the winner and the two runners-up of the Newcomers section were allowed in the final night to compete in the Big Artists section; Annalisa Minetti was eventually able to win both the competitions with the song "Senza te o con te". Piccola Orchestra Avion Travel won the Critics Award with the song "Dormi e sogna", while the duo Eramo & Passavanti won the Critics Award for the Newcomers section. For the newcomers, only the winner was revealed; for the big artists section, initially only the first three positions were announced, while the complete final ranking was disclosed only several weeks after the end of the festival. Raimondo Vianello
Raimondo Vianello (7 May 1922 – 15 April 2010) was an Italian film actor, comedian, and television host. He was a well-known Italian television personality. Biography He was born in Rome, but spent his youth in Pula, where his father, an Admiral of the Regia Marina, directed the local naval academy. During World War II he joined the Italian Social Republic, the fascist puppet state established in northern Italy after the Allied invasion of Italy. He was captured by American troops. In 1958 he met actress Sandra Mondaini, whom he married four years later, and with whom he frequently appeared in TV shows during his whole career. Antonella Ruggiero (born 15 November 1952) is an Italian singer and song-writer, mostly known as a founding member and lead singer of the pop-rock band Matia Bazar. Ruggiero is a light soprano. Andrea Mingardi (born 1 August 1940) is an Italian singer-songwriter, composer, musician, author and occasional actor. Life and career Born in Bologna, Mingardi approached the music at young age, founding the group "Golden Rock Boys" in 1959. Rosalino Cellamare (born 13 August 1953), better known as Ron, is an Italian singer-songwriter and musician. Born in Dorno, province of Pavia, he debuted under his true name at the 1970 edition of the Sanremo Festival, together with Nada. In the following years he distinguished as songwriter for Lucio Dalla and others. Faustino (Fausto) Leali (born 29 October 1944 in Nuvolento, Brescia) is an Italian singer. Early life Leali began his musical career as a singer in several bands in his native Brescia. Alberto Salerno (born 30 December 1949) is an Italian lyricist and producer. Life and career Born in Milan, Salerno is the son of the popular lyricist Nisa.
