Sannat ( mt, Ta' Sannat) is an Local councils of Malta, administrative unit of Malta, on the island of Gozo, with a population of 2,117 people (March 2014). Since June 30, 1993, Malta has been subdivided into 68 localities, governed by local councils, mt, kunsilli lokali, meaning municipalities or borough. These form the most basic form of local government and there are no intermediate levels between it and the national level. Ta' Ċenċ Cliffs
Ta' Ċenċ Cliffs, also known as Sanap Cliffs, is a 20 ha linear strip of cliffed coastline in Sannat, on the southern coast of the island of Gozo, Malta, in the Mediterranean Sea. The area consists of garrigue and steep and rugged cliffs, which rise from sea level to a height of 120 m. The cliffs are identified as an Important Bird Area (IBA) by BirdLife International because they support 800–1000 breeding pairs of Cory's shearwaters and 150–300 pairs of yelkouan shearwaters. Archaeological remains have also been found close to the cliffs. These include Borġ l-Imramma (the remains of an Mġarr phase megalithic temple), two dolmens dating back to the Tarxien Cemetery phase and a number of cart ruts. Mġarr Ix-Xini
Mġarr ix-Xini ( mt, L-Imġarr ix-Xini), is a bay close to Għajnsielem (southwest), Xewkija and Sannat (southeast) on the Maltese island of Gozo. It lies in a gorge to the west of Mġarr Harbour, accessible mainly from the nearest village of Xewkija as well from Sannat. History During the rule of the Order, it served as a small harbour for galleys. A small watchtower was built to defend the area in 1661, and it was restored several times in recent years. Present Day Nowadays, this secluded spot is popular for swimming and diving. On 12 November 1999, the former Gozo ferry M V ''Xlendi'' was purposely sunk to create an artificial reef and dive site. Gozo (region)
Gozo Region ( mt, Reġjun Għawdex) is one of five regions of Malta. The region includes the islands of Gozo, Comino and several little islets such as Cominotto. The region does not border with any other regions, but it is close to the Northern Region. The region was created by the Local Councils Act of 1993. It is the only original region still in existence, since the other two (Malta Majjistral and Malta Xlokk) were split into smaller regions by Act No. XVI of 2009. Għajnsielem
Għajnsielem (), meaning ''"Peaceful Spring"'', is a municipality on the southeastern coast of the island of Gozo in Malta, including the entire island of Comino. It has a population of 3,200 residents (as of March 2014), and is the first Gozitan village that greets the visitor on leaving Mġarr Harbour towards the Gozitan heartland. Its name originated from the water spring, around which in 1700, Grandmaster Perellos built an arcade containing public wash basins and fresh water spouts. Attractions include Lourdes Chapel with its sharp steeple and underlying niche of Our Lady of Lourdes, Fort Chambray and the towering of Ghajnsielem Parish Church. Xewkija
Xewkija ( mt, Ix-Xewkija, it, Casal Xeuchia, pronounced and written as Casal Sceuchia) is an administrative unit of Malta, on the island of Gozo. The population of Xewkija is 3,300 as of March 2014. History Xewkija, which is situated between Għajnsielem and the main town, Victoria, is the oldest village in Gozo. It became the first parish outside Victoria on 27 November 1678. Gozo
