Sanjay Barve
Sanjay Barve (born 13 August 1959) is an Indian police officer from 1987 batch. He was the Police Commissioner of Mumbai, taking charge on 28 February 2019, succeeding Subodh Kumar Jaiswal. Barve was succeeded by Param Bir Singh on 29 February 2020. Barve was previously the director general of the Anti Corruption Bureau, Maharashtra, from 18 September 2018. He has also held the posts of Deputy Commissioner of Police (Economic Offences Wing) as well as an additional charge as head of the State Intelligence Department. He has been the Director of the Maharashtra Police Academy. He was part of a special team which investigated Abdul Karim Telgi. Abdul Karim Telgi (1961-2017) was a convicted Indian counterfeiter. He earned money by printing counterfeit stamp paper in India. Early life Telgi's mother was Shariefabee Ladsaab Telgi, and his father was an employee of Indian Railways. His father died while he was young. Telgi paid for his education at Sarvodaya Vidyalaya Khanapur, an English medium school, by selling fruits and vegetables on trains. Eventually, he moved to Saudi Arabia. Seven years later, he returned to India, when he began a counterfeiting career, originally focusing on fake passports. He started a business to export manpower to Saudi Arabia and opened a company, Arabian Metro Travels at New Marine Lines. He used to create several fake documents that would facilitate laborers’ smooth passage at the airport even if their passport had an ECR (emigration check required) stamp or other issues that could raise red flags for immigration officials. Param Bir Singh is a former Indian police officer of the 1988 Indian Police Service (IPS) batch. He served as the Police Commissioner of Mumbai and the Director General (DG) of the Maharashtra Home Guard. Following the filing of extortion cases against him, he was untraceable, and was declared as absconding by a Mumbai Magistrate Court. Subodh Kumar Jaiswal (born 22 September 1962) is an Indian police officer who is currently serving as the director of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). He is a 1985 batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer and former Director General of Police, Maharashtra.
