Brandur Sandoy
Brandur Sandoy (born 23 April 1973 in Sandur, Faroe Islands) is a Faroese politician, sheep farmer and businessman. His surname is the same as the name of the island Sandoy, where he lives. He runs a sheep farm in Inni í Dal between Sandur and Skopun, near the school and football stadium of B71 Sandoy. He also runs a small business named BS-Smíð and rents a holiday home together with his wife Anja Sandoy, with whom he has three children: Várdis, Pauli and Pál. He is a former football player, he played for B71 Sandoy in the 1990s. Political career Sandoy was elected to the town council of Sandur in November 2008 and took seat in the town council on 1 January 2009. At that time Páll á Reynatúgvu was mayor, but in October 2009 Brandur Sandoy became mayor. Paul Joakim Sandøy (born 8 May 1987) is a Norwegian politician for the Conservative Party. Hailing from Molde, he was a member of the municipal council of Molde Municipality from 2007 to 2011. He has been the leader of the Young Conservatives of Molde and deputy leader of the Young Conservatives of Hordaland. He was a member of the central board of the Norwegian Young Conservatives from 2010, and he succeeded Henrik Asheim as leader in 2012. He was succeeded by Kristian Tonning Riise on 21 June 2014. Sandøya, Agder
Sandøya () is an island in Tvedestrand municipality in Agder county, Norway. The island is located along the southern Skagerrak coast and it has roughly 200 permanent residents (2017). The island has no bridge to the mainland, and the inhabitants rely on boats for transportation. Cars are parked at the nearby island Borøya. There are only four cars on the island, which are seldom in use. Being close to the popular tourist attraction Lyngør (a nearby group of islands frequented by thousands of tourists every summer), Sandøya is a popular summer vacation spot. The population rises to several thousand in the summer. Climate The climate is mild, with mostly snow-free winters, and warm summers. Sandøya is an island in Porsgrunn Municipality in Telemark county, Norway. The island lies just west of the smaller island of Løvøya and about to the east of the town of Brevik. The island lies at the mouth of the Eidangerfjorden, near where the Frierfjorden joins it to form the Langesundsfjorden. The island is only accessible by boat. Most of the island's residents live on the southern part of the island, while the northern part of the island is heavily forested. Sandøy Church
Sandøy Church () is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Ålesund Municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. It is located on the small island of Sandøya. It is one of the two churches for the Sandøy parish which is part of the Nordre Sunnmøre prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Møre. The white, wooden church was built in an octagonal design in 1812 using plans drawn up by an unknown architect. The church seats about 250 people. History The earliest existing historical records of the church date back to 1589, but it was an old, dilapidated building by that time. At that time, it was located on the eastern coast of the island of Sandøya and originally the church was an annex chapel to the main Aukra Church in the Aukra prestegjeld.
