Sands Regent
J Resort, formerly the Sands Regency Casino Hotel, is a casino hotel in downtown Reno, Nevada. It is owned and operated by Jacobs Entertainment, Jacobs Entertainment, Inc. History The property that is now the J Resort was first opened in February 1965 as the Sands Motor Inn. It was an 80-room motel, developed by Pete Cladianos and his family. An addition was completed in 1970, adding a five-story hotel building with 24 rooms, and a casino with 40 slot machines. The Sands was not in the most prospective area of Reno at that time and even in some regards to this day, but nevertheless it grew. In 1979, the 15-story Regency Tower was added, with 300 hotel rooms and more casino space. In 1985, the property's name was changed to the Sands Regent to settle a United States trademark law, trademark complaint from the Sands Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. Bellagio is a resort, luxury hotel and casino on the Las Vegas Strip in Paradise, Nevada. It is owned by The Blackstone Group and operated by MGM Resorts International. Bellagio was conceived by casino owner Steve Wynn, and was built on the former site of the Dunes hotel-casino. Wynn's company, Mirage Resorts, purchased the Dunes in 1992. Plans were announced in 1994 to replace it with Beau Rivage, a French-themed resort. However, Wynn changed the project plans in 1995, instead theming it after the village of Bellagio, near Lake Como. The resort was designed by Jon Jerde. Construction began on November 1, 1995, with Marnell Corrao Associates as general contractor. Dayton is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Lyon County, Nevada, United States. The population was 15,153 at the 2020 census. Dayton is the first Nevada settlement and home to the oldest hotel in Nevada. History Dayton is at the western end of the Twenty-Six Mile Desert at a bend in the Carson River. Immigrants stopping there for water would decide whether to follow the river south or continue west, giving the location its first name, Ponderers Rest.
