Sandra Jauregui
Sandra Jauregui (born October 31, 1983) is an American politician from Nevada. In 2023 she became the Democratic majority leader of the Nevada Assembly. She represents the 41st district, which covers parts of the southern Las Vegas Valley. A survivor of the 2017 Las Vegas shooting, she is a prominent advocate for gun control within the Nevada Assembly. Personal life and education Jauregui was born in 1983 in Monterey Park, California, and raised in nearby Hacienda Heights. She is Latina. Jauregui attended Mt. San Antonio College and graduated from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Jauregui is a survivor of the 2017 Las Vegas shooting, the deadliest mass shooting in United States history. Nevada Assembly
The Nevada Assembly is the lower house of the Nevada Legislature, the state legislature of the U.S. state of Nevada, the upper house being the Nevada Senate. The body consists of 42 members, elected to two-year terms from single-member districts. Each district contained approximately 64,299 people as of the 2010 United States Census. Term limits, limiting assembly members to six 2-year terms (12 years), took effect in 2010. Twelve members of the Nevada Assembly were termed out with the 2010 election serving their last legislative session in 2011. The Nevada Assembly met at the Nevada State Capitol in Carson City until 1971, when a separate Legislative Building was constructed south of the Capitol. Joseph Michael Lombardo ( ; born November 8, 1962) is an American politician and former law enforcement officer serving as the 31st governor of Nevada since 2023. A member of the Republican Party, he was the 17th sheriff of Clark County from 2015 to 2023, capping a 34-year career in law enforcement. Born in Japan, Lombardo moved to Las Vegas in 1976 and was educated at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Stephen F. Sisolak ( ; born December 26, 1953) is an American businessman and politician who served as the 30th governor of Nevada from 2019 to 2023. A member of the Democratic Party, he served on the Clark County Commission from 2009 to 2019 and on the Nevada Board of Regents from 1999 to 2008.
