Sandra Abstreiter
Sandra Abstreiter (born 23 July 1998) is German professional ice hockey goaltender for the Ottawa Charge of the Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL) and a member of Germany women's national ice hockey team. She played college ice hockey at Providence. Playing career NCAA After not appearing in a game during her freshman season in 2017–18, Abstreiter made her Friars debut on 6 October 2018, at Schneider Arena versus the Bemidji State Beavers. She needed to make only fourteen saves in a 4–3 final, as the Friars fought back from a 3-0 setback, with Neve Van Pelt scoring the game-winning goal. In Abstreiter's senior season with the Friars, the program qualified for the 2021 NCAA National Collegiate Women's Ice Hockey Tournament. Ottawa are a professional ice hockey team based in Ottawa, Ontario. They are one of the six charter franchises of the Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL). 2023 PWHL Draft
The 2023 PWHL Draft was the first draft in Professional Women's Hockey League history, and took place on September 18, 2023, at the Canadian Broadcasting Centre in Toronto, Ontario. Minnesota Golden Gophers forward Taylor Heise was the first player chosen in the draft, selected by Minnesota. In all, 90 players were selected over 15 rounds of drafting. Jennifer Harß
Jennifer Sandra "Jenny" Harß (also anglicised Harss; born 14 July 1987) is a German ice hockey coach and retired goaltender for the German national ice hockey team. A two-time Olympian, she represented Germany at the Winter Olympic Games in 2006 and 2014. During her club career, she tended goal in the German Women's Ice Hockey Bundesliga (DFEL), the men's Oberliga, the men's Bayernliga, and with the Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs women's ice hockey program in the NCAA Division I. Harß has coached the German women's national under-16 team since 2022. Playing career Harß began playing ice hockey at age four in the minor ice hockey department of EV Füssen in her hometown of Füssen, Bavaria. 2021 IIHF Women's World Championship
The 2021 IIHF Women's World Championship was an international ice hockey tournament organized by the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF), which was contested in Calgary, Alberta, from 20 to 31 August 2021, at WinSport Arena. It was originally scheduled to be contested in Halifax and Truro, Nova Scotia, Canada. It was the 20th edition of the IIHF Women's World Championship Top Division tournament. No divisional promotion and relegation occurred after the Top Division tournament and both Division I tournaments in 2020 were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Originally scheduled from 7 to 17 April, the tournament was postponed to 6 to 16 May 2021 on 4 March. Goals Against Average
Goals against average (GAA) also known as "average goals against" or "AGA" is a statistic used in field hockey, ice hockey, lacrosse, soccer, and water polo that is the mean of goals allowed per game by a goaltender or goalkeeper (depending on sport). GAA is analogous to a baseball pitcher's earned run average (ERA). In Japanese, the same translation (防御率) is used for both GAA and ERA, because of this. For ice hockey, the goals against average statistic is the number of goals a goaltender allows per 60 minutes of playing time. It is calculated by taking the number of goals against, multiply that by 60 (minutes) and then dividing by the number of minutes played. The modification is used by the NHL since 1965 and the IIHF since 1990. When calculating GAA, overtime goals and time on ice are included, whereas empty net and shootout goals are not. Save percentage (often known by such symbols as SV%, SVS%, SVP, PCT) is a statistic in various goal-scoring sports that track saves as a statistic. In ice hockey and lacrosse, it is a statistic that represents the percentage of shots on goal a goaltender stops. It is calculated by dividing the number of saves by the total number of shots on goal. Although the statistic is called a "percentage", it is often given as a decimal, in the same way as a batting average in baseball. The 2016 IIHF World Women's U18 Championship Division I and 2016 IIHF World Women's U18 Championship Division I Qualification were a pair of international under-18 women's ice hockey tournaments run by the International Ice Hockey Federation. The Division I and Division I Qualification tournaments made up the second and third level of competition at the 2016 IIHF World Women's U18 Championships respectively. Junior hockey is a level of competitive ice hockey generally for players between 16 and 21 years of age. Junior hockey leagues in the United States and Canada are considered amateur (with some exceptions) and operate within regions of each country.
