''Sandflow'' is a 1937 American Western film directed by Lesley Selander and written by Frances Guihan. The film stars Buck Jones, Lita Chevret, Bob Kortman, Arthur Aylesworth, Bob Terry and Enrique de Rosas. The film was released on February 14, 1937, by Universal Pictures. Plot Lane Hallett is wanted for killing the Sheriff, however his brother Buck thinks he is innocent and sets out to prove it, but while he is out Quayle is after Lane for the reward money. Lesley Selander
Lesley Selander (May 26, 1900 – December 5, 1979) was an American film director of Western (genre), Westerns and adventure film, adventure movies. His career as director, spanning 127 feature films and dozens of TV episodes, lasted from 1936 to 1968. Before that, Selander was assistant director on films such as ''The Cat and the Fiddle (film), The Cat and the Fiddle'' (1934), ''A Night at the Opera (film), A Night at the Opera'' (1935), and Fritz Lang's ''Fury (1936 film), Fury'' (1936). To this day Selander remains one of the most prolific directors of feature Westerns in cinema history, having taken the helm for 107 Westerns between his first directorial feature in 1936 and 1967. In 1956 he was nominated for the Directors Guild of America award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Television, for his work directing a 1954 episode of ''Lassie (1954 TV series), Lassie''. Lita Chevret
Lita Chevret (May 27, 1908 – May 23, 2001) was an American actress who began her career at the genesis of sound films. She appeared in over 60 films between 1929 and 1940, although in most of those she had small or non-billed parts. Life Chevret was born on May 27, 1908, in Oakland, California, to show-business parents, who ensured that she received training in both singing and dance. Career Chevret began acting with a stock theater company when she was 16 years old. She also appeared in Berkeley productions of Irving Pichel and in Fanchon and Marco revues. Based on her dancing ability, Chevret broke into the film business in 1929's ''Fox Movietone Follies of 1929'', with an uncredited role. The following year she appeared in '' Words and Music'' in a small unbilled role, in John Wayne's first film where he had a significant role (billed as Duke Morrison). Bob Kortman
Robert F. Kortman (December 24, 1887 – March 13, 1967) was an American film actor mostly associated with westerns, though he also appeared in a number of Laurel and Hardy comedies. He appeared in more than 260 films between 1914 and 1952. 1936- appeared in Trail of the lonesome pine. Biography The son of a rancher, Kortman was born in Brackettville, Texas, in 1887. He spent six years in the U.S. cavalry. Director Tom Ince cast Kortman as a villain when he began working in films in 1911, and he went on to become the "favored on-screen opponent" for William S. Hart with regard to their film fights. After he left acting, Kortman was president of a cooperative water company in Arrowhead Springs, California, where he lived. Kortman was married to Gonda Durand, a Mack Sennett bathing beauty. He died in Long Beach, California from cancer. Josef Swickard
Josef Swickard (June 26, 1866 – March 1, 1940) was a Prussian-born American stage and screen character actor, who had toured with stock companies in Europe, South Africa, and South America. Career Swickard emigrated to the United States from the German Empire in 1882. He was a stage actor for several years before entering films with D.W. Griffith in 1912 and by 1914 was playing supporting roles for Mack Sennett. He appeared in Charles Chaplin's ''Laughing Gas'' and ''Caught in a Cabaret''. He remained with Sennett until 1917, when he settled into his prolific career of playing mostly aristocratic characters. Modern audiences are perhaps most familiar with his role of Marcelo Desnoyers, the well-intentioned but impractical French upper class father in Rex Ingram's 1921 film '' The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse''. Buck Jones
Buck Jones (born Charles Frederick Gebhart; December 12, 1891 – November 30, 1942) was an American actor, known for his work in many popular Western movies. In his early film appearances, he was credited as Charles Jones. Early life, military service Jones was born Charles Frederick Gebhart on the outskirts of Vincennes, Indiana, on December 12, 1891—some sources indicate December 4, 1889, but his marriage license and military records confirm the 1891 date. In 1907 he joined the United States Army a month after his 16th birthday: his mother had signed a consent form that gave his age as 18. He was assigned to Troop G, 6th Cavalry Regiment, and was deployed to the Philippines in October 1907, where he served in combat and was wounded during the Moro Rebellion. Tom Chatterton
Tom Chatterton (February 12, 1881 – August 17, 1952) was an American actor and director. Born in Geneva, New York, Chatterton was active in sports as a youth. He gained early acting experience with Ben Horning's stock theater company in Syracuse, New York. He worked with several stock theater companies, and for three years he portrayed the mayor in a touring company of ''The Man of the Hour''. He also was active in vaudeville. He began his film career in 1913 at the New York Motion Picture Company under director Thomas H. Ince. Although never a major star, Chatterton had several leading roles in early silent films. He appeared in a large number of westerns and was able to adapt to talkies allowing him to have a successful career lasting five decades. Chatterton was also a film director. Lee Phelps (born Napoleon Bonaparte Kukuck; May 15, 1893 – March 19, 1953) was an American film actor. He appeared in more than 600 films between 1917 and 1953, mainly in uncredited roles. He also appeared in three films that won the Academy Award for Best Picture ('' Grand Hotel'', '' You Can't Take It with You'', and ''Gone with the Wind''). Phelps appeared in the 1952 episode "Outlaw's Paradise" as a judge in the syndicated western television series, ''The Adventures of Kit Carson'', starring Bill Williams in the title role. He also appeared in a 1952 TV episode (#90) of ''The Lone Ranger''. Personal life In 1916, Lee Phelps married actress Mary Warren.
