Sandbach (Acher)
The Sandbach is a river in the districts of Rastatt and Baden-Baden in the German state of Baden-Württemberg. From its source it runs, initially as the Bühlot, northwestwards within the Northern Black Forest, then out onto the Upper Rhine Plain heading north-northeast at first before swinging northwest again to its confluence. Its mouth lies 29.1 kilometres below its source near Iffezheim, where it discharges from the right into the lower reaches of the Acher which are known as the ''Altrheinzug'' ("Old Rhine Course"). Geography The source region of the Sandbach lies near the Black Forest High Road ( B500) between Hundseck and Unterstmatt on the Hochkopf at a height of about . The Sandbach, in its upper reaches called the "Bühlot", flows steeply downhill in a northerly direction, meeting several small streams such as the ''„Rotwässerle''. Hochkopf (Northern Black Forest)
The Hochkopf is a mountain in the county of Rastatt in the Black Forest in Germany with height of . It is located northeast of the nearby Hornisgrinde, the highest mountain of the Northern Black Forest. About 700 metres away to the north, as part of the same mountain ridge, is the Pfrimmackerkopf (). The plateau with its semi-protected forest or ''Schonwald'', is a '' grinde'', an open highland landscape typical of the Northern Black Forest, and is part of the Bühlertal conservation area. Tourism On the north and west sides of the Hochkopfs, at height of about 900 metres, runs the B 500 federal highway, the Black Forest High Road, from Hundseck (884 m) to Unterstmatt (928 m), two former sites of highland hotels on the holiday route.
