Sanawon
Sanawon is a duo from Chicago, Illinois. The band's name is Korean for ''fierce''. After touring extensively as a solo artist and promoting her own A.I.R. (Asians in Rock) tour with Asian Man Records' Mike Park, singer-songwriter Jenny Choi recruited the help of longtime drummer Philip Stone to create an indie/pop band. The duo are referenced in the Bomb the Music Industry! song, 'The First Time I Met Sanawon'. Sanowan have toured with bands such as Mike Park, Colossal, The Like Young, Versus, Ida, and Beauty Pill. Jenny Choi provided cello and backing vocals for several songs on Sundowner's 2007 debut album, Four One Five Two. Sundowner (band)
Sundowner is an American mostly acoustic project of Chris McCaughan of The Lawrence Arms, also featuring Jenny Choi, Neil Hennessy, and Eli Caterer. Their debut album, '' Four One Five Two'', was released on Red Scare Records on March 13, 2007. Asian Man Records released the second Sundowner album '' We Chase the Waves'' on August 10, 2010. Sundowner toured with Mike Park through the UK and Europe in February and March 2008. During live shows, Sundowner is also known to cover Lawrence Arms songs. Sundowner is currently signed to Fat Wreck Chords, and his third full-length album was released on September 3, 2013. Jenny Choi
Jenny Choi is an American singer and cellist, who founded the Asians in Rock tour, and is the lead singer of the two-piece Chicago band, Sanawon. For many years she performed solo at the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign (where she received her undergraduate degree) as well as with a back-up band. She also played synthesizer and sang lead and backing vocals in the short-lived Sweet Black And Blue, with Philip Stone on drums and Ben Weasel at guitar and microphone. She played cello on Mike Park's second album ''North Hangook Falling'', The Lawrence Arms fifth album '' Oh! Suburban Home Records and Distribution is a record label based in Denver, Colorado, United States. The label was founded in 1995 by Virgil Dickerson, and is known for focusing on vinyl releases and bands in the pop-punk and alt-country genres. Its roster has included Two Cow Garage, Drag the River, Oblivion, The Gamits, and Apocalypse Hoboken. In 2006 the label founded the Vinyl Collective, an online store that serves as a community hub for independent vinyl collectors. Quote Unquote Records is a donation-based online independent record label, founded and run by Bomb the Music Industry! and The Arrogant Sons of Bitches frontman Jeff Rosenstock. The label is an example of Rosenstock's DIY ideals. Many of the label's artists have personal connections, and all of the music released by the label is available as a free download from its website, along with an array of lyrics and photos. In fact, the label does not sell any material of any kind, and the website's headline bills the label as "The First Ever Donation Based Record Label". Rosenstock explains the modest success of Quote Unquote Records by stating, "The donations that come in are not huge, but since we don’t spend that much money they pile up." ''Four One Five Two'' is the debut album of Chicago Illinois's Sundowner, the acoustic side-project from Chris McCaughan, singer guitarist of The Lawrence Arms. The album was released on March 13, 2007, after many months of playing coffee shops and touring alongside The Lawrence Arms. The album consists of twelve songs, ten of which were previously unreleased in any form and two of which ( My Boatless Booze Cruise, One Hundred Resolutions) are remakes of Lawrence Arms songs. The album takes its name from McCaughan's childhood home address. Its cover artwork was designed by artist Heather Hannoura, best known for designing merchandise for many punk rock bands, including Green Day, Alkaline Trio, AFI, and Rancid. Beauty Pill is an American rock band from Washington, D.C., based largely around the songs and ideas of singer/guitarist/producer Chad Clark. Ida is an indie rock band from New York City. They are known for their three-part harmonies; sparse, minimal, often quiet arrangements; and their three singer-songwriters.
