Sanaleipak Nachom, also known as Sanaleipak Nachom Artistes' Association or simply Sanaleibak Nachom, is a Meitei cultural association of artists of Shumang Kumhei art form of . Laihui Ensemble
The Laihui Ensemble is a centre for research on traditional and indigenous performing arts, based on Imphal, Manipur. It was established in 1985. Shougrakpam Hemanta
Shougrakpam Hemanta (born 1969) is an Indian comedian, actor, writer and director, who has worked in various Shumang Kumhei plays and Manipuri films. He is well known for his role of ''Oja Tolhan'' in ''Eegi Mahao'' and his portrayal of the titular role in the movie ''Mantri Dolansana''. In 2017, he was conferred with the prestigious Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in recognition of his contribution in the traditional Meitei theatre of the Shumang Kumhei. With this, he became the first person to receive the award for this art form. ''Shougrakpam Hemanta'' is also the lifetime secretary of Manipur State Shumang Leela Council. Denny Likmabam (born 10 March 1976) is an Indian actor from Manipur. His films include ''Phairenthagi Angaoba Leichil'', '' Kaorage'', ''Khuji'', ''Nungshi Hekta Hairage'', ''Hi Sweety Hello Preety'' and ''Hiyai''. Meitei Cinema
The Cinema of Manipur is the film industry based in Manipur, India. It includes not only Meitei language movies but all the films made in different languages of the different communities in Manipur. The Manipuri film industry was born when '' Matamgi Manipur'' was released on 9 April 1972. Before this, there were many attempts to make a film in the state, the most significant being ''Mainu Pemcha'' in 1948 which was left incomplete due to various problems. The tradition of documentary film making in Manipur was said to have been pioneered by the late Maharaj Kumar Priya Brata Singh who shot "actuality movies" with his 8 mm camera in 1936. Sangai festival ( mni, Sangai Kumhei) is an annual cultural festival organised by Manipur Tourism Department every year from 21 to 30 November. Bhangra (dance)
Bhangra is a type of traditional folk dance of Punjab, originating in the Sialkot area of Punjab, Pakistan. It is done in the season of harvesting. According to Manuel (2001), bhangra is especially associated with the vernal Vaisakhi festival. In a typical performance, several dancers execute vigorous kicks, leaps, and bends of the body—often with upraised, thrusting arm or shoulder movements—to the accompaniment of short songs called ''boliyan'' and, most significantly, to the beat of a ''dhol'' (double-headed drum). Struck with a heavy beater on one end and with a lighter stick on the other, the ''dhol'' imbues the music with a syncopated (accents on the weak beats), swinging rhythmic character that has generally remained the hallmark of bhangra music.
