Piazza San Babila
Piazza San Babila is a city square in Milan, Italy. The square had always existed as a "largo" since Roman times, as the road to Bergamo would cross the walls of the Roman city. In medieval times as the city expanded beyond its Roman walls the homonymous basilica was founded, and the largo became an important crossroad in the city's intricated road network. Corsia dei Servi (now Corso Vittorio Emanuele II), corsia di san Damiano (now Corso Monforte), corso di Porta Orientale (now Corso Venezia), Contrada del Durino (now via Durini), Contrada del monte (now Corso di Montenapoleone) all used to cross here. Subsequently, from 1931 to 1948 the largo was widened and officially became a "Piazza", the old buildings were demolished and new ones were built in their place, including the Snia Viscosa Tower, Milan's first skyscraper. Line 4 is an underground rapid transit line in Milan, Italy, part of the Milan Metro. The line is long with 21 stations. The line was opened in stages between 2022 and 2024. It features automatic driverless trains and is designed for a capacity of 24–28,000 passengers per hour in each direction. The expected annual ridership is 87 million. Construction The first three stations of the line (Linate-Repetti-Forlanini) was originally planned to be completed in 2015, as part of the works for the Milan Expo.
