Samy Benmayor
Samy Mauricio Benmayor Benmayor (born 24 January 1956) is a Chilean painter who formed part of the Generation of '80 (Spanish language, Spanish: ''Generación del '80'') movement. Biography Samy Benmayor was born in Santiago, Chile, and came from a family of Sephardi Jews, Sephardic Jewish origins. He grew up in a house in the central Santiago highway of Avenida Libertador General Bernardo O'Higgins, Alameda and attended the :es: Liceo Experimental Manuel de Salas, Liceo Manuel de Salas high school. His father died when he was two years old. In 1976, Benmayor enrolled at the University of Chile’s Faculty of Arts, where he studied with well-known artists such as Gonzalo Díaz and Rodolfo Opazo, obtaining a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1982. After his time at university, he was offered scholarships by several institutions to continue his education abroad. La Tertulia Museum
La Tertulia Museum, formerly known as the Museum of Modern Art La Tertulia, is an art museum in Cali, Colombia. It has an important collection of American and especially Colombian art. The museum consists of three buildings: a main gallery with 300 works by national and international artists and an art workshop for children; an arthouse theater known as the ''Cinemateca''; and a building for printing and restoration workshops. An artist is a person engaged in an activity related to creating art, practicing the arts, or demonstrating an art. The common usage in both everyday speech and academic discourse refers to a practitioner in the visual arts only. Alfredo Valenzuela Puelma
Alfredo Valenzuela Puelma ( Valparaiso, 8 February 1856 – Villejuif, France, 27 October 1909), was one of Chile's best-known painters and one of the four artists known as the Great Chilean Masters. Biography He showed a talent and interest in art from an early age. At the age of twelve, he began attending the Academy of Painting (Santiago, Chile) where he learned from Ernesto Kirchbach and Juan Mochi. For the first few years he combined artistic training with the study of medicine. Between 1881 and 1885 he was awarded a scholarship from the Chilean Government to continue his art studies at the workshop of Benjamin Constant in Paris. He also took courses in anatomy at the Sorbonne, where he made contact with movements that would go on to revolutionise art history, like the Manet School.
