Samvel Gasparyan
Samvel Gasparyan is an Armenian retired weightlifter. He won the bronze medal in the men's 102kg event at the 2022 World Weightlifting Championships held in Bogotá, Colombia. He won the two gold medal in European championships the men's 102kg event at the 2021 European Weightlifting Championships & 109kg 2023 European Weightlifting Championships. In January 2025, the two-time European champion was appointed Secretary General of the Armenian Weightlifting Federation. At the 2019 European Weightlifting Championships held in Batumi, Georgia, he won the silver medal in the men's 102kg event. World Weightlifting Championships
The World Weightlifting Championships is an international weightlifting competition, currently held annually (except for years of the Summer Olympic Games) by the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF). The predecessor organization of the IWF was founded in 1905, but World Championship events began before its foundation. The first recognized World Championship event was held in 1891, and was won by Edward Lawrence Levy of England. 2021 World Weightlifting Championships
The 2021 World Weightlifting Championships was a weightlifting competition held from 7 to 17 December in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Due to concerns about the rapid spread of SARS-CoV-2 Omicron variant, Omicron variant and held shortly after 2020 Summer Olympics, Olympics and 2021 National Games of China, Chinese National Games, the tournament faced the absence of many strong competitors. 10 Olympic champions from Weightlifting at the 2020 Summer Olympics, Tokyo four months earlier, 15 world champion title holders, and entire teams from China, North Korea, Italy and Germany decided not to compete. Weightlifters competing at the event were exempt from the required quarantine when visiting Uzbekistan. The Weightlifting Federation of Armenia (WFA) (), is the regulating body of weightlifting in Armenia, governed by the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports (Armenia) and Armenian Olympic Committee. The headquarters of the federation is located in Yerevan. History The Federation was established in 1922 and the current president is Arayik Harutyunyan.
