Samuel Watson (climber)
Samuel Watson (born February 27, 2006) is an American professional rock climber who specializes in competition speed climbing and represents the United States at IFSC Climbing World Cups. He holds the world record for the discipline at 4.64 seconds, accomplished at the 2025 IFSC Climbing World Cup in Bali, Indonesia. He won a bronze medal at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, France. Career In 2021 Watson won a silver medal at the Youth B category of the IFSC Climbing World Youth Championships in Voronezh, Russia. In 2022 he won a gold medal at the Edinburgh, Scotland IFSC Climbing World Cup, in speed, and became the youngest climber to do so. Also in 2022, Watson won, a bronze medal at the Youth A category of the IFSC Climbing World Youth Championships in Dallas, Texas, and won first in the US National Speed Climbing Championship. Southlake, Texas
Southlake is a city located predominantly in Tarrant County with minor areas extending into Denton County in the U.S. state of Texas. Southlake is a suburb of Dallas/Fort Worth. As of the 2020 census, it had a population of 31,265. The 2023 IFSC Climbing World Championships, the 18th edition, was held in Bern, Switzerland from 1 to 12 August 2023. Millcreek, Utah
Millcreek is a city in Salt Lake County, Utah, United States, and part of the Salt Lake City metropolitan area. The population as of the 2020 census was 63,380. Prior to its incorporation on December 28, 2016, Millcreek was a census-designated place (CDP) and township. History Early settlers of the Millcreek area in 1848 included Mary Fielding Smith (widow of Hyrum Smith) and her children, including Joseph F. Smith. The area remained essentially rural in character until after World War II. As postwar suburban growth spilled south over the Salt Lake City limits, the area was not annexed by the city and remained unincorporated. By the 1980s, most of the area now in Millcreek was built out and known by various names, including East Mill Creek, Canyon Rim and Mount Olympus. Reza Alipour Shenazandifard (, born 29 April 1994) is an Iranian competition speed climber from Qazvin. Career In 2014, in Spain, he registered 5.97 seconds and broke his own Iranian record in speed climbing. The International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC) titled him an Asiatic cheetah. On April 30, 2017, in Nanjing, China, as part of the 2017 IFSC Climbing World Cup, Alipour set a new world record; scaling a 15-meter wall in 5.48 seconds, snatching the gold medal, and beating the previous record of 5.60 seconds held by Ukraine's Danyil Boldyrev. Wu Peng (; born 15 October 2002) is a Chinese competition speed climber. He represented China at the 2024 Summer Olympics and won a silver medal in the men's speed event. Career Wu competed at the 2023 IFSC Climbing World Championships and finished in sixth place. He finished the 2023 IFSC Climbing World Cup season in second place.
