Samuel Perry (MP)
Samuel Frederick Perry (29 June 1877 – 19 October 1954), was a Labour and Co-operative politician in the United Kingdom. He was the father of the British tennis and table tennis champion Fred Perry. Born in Stockport, Cheshire, Sam Perry began his education with a scholarship at the Stockport Grammar School but was forced to give up school at the age of ten when his father died, becoming a cotton spinner like his father. He became involved in the local co-operative movement with the Stockport Co-operative Society then Birkenhead and on the creation of the Co-operative Party in 1917 was appointed its first national secretary. Appointment as the senior official in the Party brought Perry to London with nine-year-old Fred. The family lived on the co-operatively run Brentham Estate in Ealing, where Fred was able to use the tennis courts and cricket pitch. Samuel Augustus Perry
Samuel Augustus Perry (1787–1854) was an English-born soldier and surveyor. Biography Early life Samuel Augustus Perry was born 17 March 1787 in Wales. He was baptized 12 September 1791 in Holborn, London. He was the son of Jabez Perry, goldbeater, and his wife Ann. Career He was appointed an ensign in the Royal Staff Corps in 1809 and promoted to lieutenant in 1811. In 1819, he was appointed professor of topographical drawing at the Royal Military College, a position he occupied until 1823. He then served in the Peninsular war under Sir George Murray and was present at Badajoz, Nivelle and Nive. When the bridge over the Tagus at Alcantara was broken, he distinguished himself by filling the gap with a 'flying bridge' to carry the guns. Samuel Marshall Perry
Samuel Marshall Perry (1836–1898) was a member of the Los Angeles Common Council between 1878 and 1888 and of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors from 1889 to 1893. He was chairman of the Board of Supervisors when the Los Angeles county courthouse was built. Perry, who was referred to in the press as S. M. Perry, was born in Venango County, Pennsylvania, on May 12, 1836, and lived in Piqua, Ohio, before coming to Marysville, California, in 1860, where he was in the hardware business, which he left in favor of a gold rush to the John Day River country in Oregon. After returning to the East for several years, he went back to Los Angeles in 1875. A Republican, he was elected to the City Council in 1878 and reelected in 1886. Samuel Perry was an industrialist in the State of South Australia. History Samuel Perry (c.1864 – 19 March 1930) was the son of John and Harriett Perry (ca.1834 – 24 September 1918) of Shropshire, England, and the brother of Rev. Isaiah Perry (1854–1911). He was apprenticed as an iron worker to the Coalbrookdale Company, where he trained as an engineer. At the age of 22, around 1886, he followed his brother to Gawler, South Australia, where he found employment at James Martin's "Phoenix Foundry", living with the Roediger family at nearby Buchfelde (later named Loos). He next worked at Port Adelaide, then as foreman for John Danks & Son of Melbourne. The Last Performance
''The Last Performance'' is a 1929 American film directed by Paul Fejos and starring Conrad Veidt and Mary Philbin. The film was made in two version: a silent version and Movietone version complete with music, talking sequences, and sound effects with the talking sequences were confined only to the last reel. Premise Conrad Veidt stars as Erik the Great, a sinister stage magician who is in love with a woman half his age, Julie, played by Mary Philbin. A young thief, Mark Royce (played by Fred MacKaye) is caught stealing from Erik's apartment and is taken in at Julie's suggestion. Secretly she falls in love with the new apprentice. Samuel Paul Perry (born 29 December 2001) is an English professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for club Alvechurch. Career Born in Walsall, Perry started his career at the academy of Aston Villa before joining Walsall in 2019. Samuel Victor Perry FRS (16 July 1918 – 17 December 2009) was an English biochemist who was a pioneer in the field of muscle biochemistry. In his earlier years he was a rugby union lock who played club rugby for Southport R.F.C., Cambridge University R.U.F.C. and international rugby for England.
