Samuel J. Steiner
Samuel J. Steiner (born 18 September 1946 in North Lima, Ohio) is an American-Canadian historian, author, and archivist. Steiner moved to Canada in 1968 as a draft resister, where he became a historian and archivist at Conrad Grebel University College in Waterloo, Ontario, and was the founding editor of the Global Anabaptist Mennonite Encyclopedia. North Lima, Ohio
North Lima is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in eastern Beaver Township, Mahoning County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,369 at the 2020 census. Located at the intersection of State Routes 7, 164, and 165, it is part of the Youngstown–Warren metropolitan area. Demographics History North Lima was laid out around 1826. Mennonite Writers
Mennonites are groups of Anabaptist Christian church communities of denominations. The name is derived from the founder of the movement, Menno Simons (1496–1561) of Friesland. Through his writings about Reformed Christianity during the Radical Reformation, Simons articulated and formalized the teachings of earlier Swiss founders, with the early teachings of the Mennonites founded on the belief in both the mission and ministry of Jesus, which the original Anabaptist followers held with great conviction, despite persecution by various Roman Catholic and Mainline Protestant states. Rockway Mennonite Collegiate (RMC) is an independent Mennonite high school located in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada. It offers academic programs for grade 7–12 students, various cross-cultural exchanges, as well as arts, athletics and tech programs. Approximately 40% of its 300-student population are Mennonite, coming from the modern Canadian Mennonite church, rather than Old Order Mennonites. Draft evasion is any successful attempt to elude a government-imposed obligation to serve in the military forces of one's nation.
