Samuel G. Allen
Samuel Gordon Allen (August 24, 1870 – October 16, 1956) was an American lawyer, businessman, and industrialist who specialized in railroad supplies. He founded the Lima-Hamilton Corporation, Lima Locomotive Works, the Combustion Engineering Company, and the American Arch Company. Allen was also a dog breeder and judge. Early life Allen was born in Warren, Pennsylvania on August 24, 1870. His parents were Marie (née Cook) and Orren Cartwright Allen. He attended public schools in Warren, followed by the Maryland Military and Naval Academy, Maryland Military and Naval Academy. He also graduated from the Pennsylvania State College where he was a member of Phi Gamma Delta fraternity. After college, Allen studied law. He was admitted to the Pennsylvania Bar Association, Pennsylvania Bar on August 24, 1891. Warren is a city in and the county seat of Warren County, Pennsylvania, United States, located along the Allegheny River. The population was 9,404 at the 2020 census. In English law, seignory or seigniory, spelled ''signiory'' in Early Modern English (; ; ), is the lordship (authority) remaining to a grantor after the grant of an estate in fee simple. The American Kennel Club (AKC) is a 501(c)(4) nonprofit breed registry, registry of purebred dog pedigree (animal), pedigrees in the United States. The Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show is an all-breed conformation show, held annually in the New York metropolitan area. The Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show is one of a handful of benched shows in the United States. Dogs are required to be on display in their assigned locations (show benches) during the entire show except when shown in the ring, groomed for showtime, or taken outside to urinate or defecate. This type of presentation allows spectators and breeders alike to have an opportunity of seeing all the entered dogs. Setter
The setter is a type of gundog used most often for hunting game such as quail, pheasant, and grouse. In the UK, the four setter breeds, together with the pointers, usually form a subgroup within the gundog group as they share a common function. However, the setter breeds each have subtle differences in head, bone and substance. The American and Canadian Kennel Clubs classify these breeds within the Sporting Group. The Pointer, sometimes called the English Pointer, is a medium-sized breed of pointing dog developed in England. Pointers are used to find game for hunters, and are considered by gundog enthusiasts to be one of the finest breeds of its type; however, unlike most other hunting breeds, its purpose is to point, not retrieve game. The popular belief is that the Pointer descends from the Old Spanish Pointer that was brought to England from Spain with returning soldiers at the beginning of the 18th century. Once in England, they were crossed with local dog breeds to improve the breed's hunting abilities.
