Samuel Chapple
Samuel Chapple (born 23 November 1998) is a Dutch middle distance runner. He became Dutch national indoor champion in 2022 over 800 metres. In 2025, he became Dutch national record holder over 800 metres, 1000 metres, and 1500 metres indoors. He won the gold medal over 800 metres at the 2025 European Athletics Indoor Championships. Early and personal life Born to a Spanish mother and a British father, he is multi-lingual. From The Hague in South Holland, he ran as a member of the Olympus'70 athletic club in Naaldwijk. He was a member of the Team Distance Runners in Castricum from 2018 to 2022 with Guido Hartensveld. He then spent time from 2022 to 2023 with the National Team in Papendal and trained with Tomasz Lewandowksi. He later based himself in Ede with the Valley Running Team and his coach Grete Koens. 2022 World Athletics Indoor Championships – Men's 800 Metres
The men's 800 metres at the 2022 World Athletics Indoor Championships took place on 18 and 19 March 2022. Summary Mariano García came into the World Championships as the world leader for 2022. No podium athlete returned from the distant 2018 Championships and with Elliot Giles failing to start the heats, only Álvaro de Arriba returned from the previous final. With 8 men on a 6 lane track running the first turn in lanes, Marco Arop rushed from his shared position to take a clear lead at the break. Andreas Kramer and Noah Kibet fell in line behind as Arop took the field through a 24.04 first lap with Garcia trailing the field. For the second lap, most everybody stayed in the same position, except for Garcia who stepped into lane 2 and cruised past the string of athletes into third place. 2025 World Athletics Indoor Championships
The 20th World Athletics Indoor Championships were held from 21 to 23 March 2025 in Nanjing, People's Republic of China, at the newly built Nanjing's Cube gymnasium in the Nanjing Youth Olympic Sports Park. Nanjing was originally due to host the World Athletics Indoor Championships in 2020, then in 2021, and then again in 2023, but all these dates were cancelled due to COVID-19 pandemic regulations in China. The 2022 edition took place in Belgrade, Serbia, and the 2024 edition in Glasgow, United Kingdom. Elliott Crestan
Eliott Crestan (born 22 February 1999) is a Belgian middle-distance runner specialising in the 800 metres. In this discipline, he won bronze medals at the 2018 World U20 Championships and the 2024 World Athletics Indoor Championships. In 2024, he broke Ivo Van Damme's 800 metres national record that had stood for 48 years with a time of 1:42.43. He participated in the 2020 and 2024 Summer Olympics, reaching the semi-final stage in both.
