Samuel B. Wilson
Samuel Bailey Wilson (May 12, 1873 – January 24, 1954) was an American lawyer and judge from Minnesota. He served as Chief Justice of the Minnesota Supreme Court from 1923 to 1933. Biography Samuel B. Wilson was born in Prices Branch, Missouri on May 12, 1873. He graduated from the State Normal School in Mankato, Minnesota (now Minnesota State University) in 1894, and from the University of Minnesota Law School in 1896. He married Daisy Sheehan on June 21, 1899 and they had six children. Prices Branch is an unincorporated community in Montgomery County, Missouri, United States. The community is located on State Highway JJ and Price's Branch Road and is approximately east of Montgomery City. Blue Earth County, Minnesota
Blue Earth County is a county in the State of Minnesota. As of the 2020 census, the population was 69,112. Its county seat is Mankato. The county is named for the Blue Earth River and for the deposits of blue-green clay once evident along the banks of the Blue Earth River. Blue Earth County is part of the Mankato-North Mankato metropolitan area. History The area of Blue Earth County was once occupied by the Dakota Indians. French explorer Pierre-Charles Le Sueur was an early explorer in this area, arriving where the Minnesota and Blue Earth rivers meet. He made an unsuccessful attempt to mine copper from the blue earth. The area remained under French control until 1803 when it passed to the United States in the Louisiana Purchase. When Minnesota became a territory in 1849, the territorial government became interested in settling the river valley. The Minnesota Supreme Court is the highest court in the U.S. state of Minnesota. The court hears cases in the Supreme Court chamber in the Minnesota State Capitol or in the nearby Minnesota Judicial Center. History The court was first assembled as a three-judge panel in 1849 when Minnesota was still a territory. The first members were lawyers from outside the region, appointed by President Zachary Taylor. The court system was rearranged when Minnesota became a state in 1858. Appeals from Minnesota District Courts went directly to the Minnesota Supreme Court until the Minnesota Court of Appeals, an intermediate appellate court, was created in 1983 to handle most of those cases. Mankato ( ) is a city in Blue Earth, Nicollet, and Le Sueur counties in the state of Minnesota. The population was 44,488 according to the 2020 census, making it the 21st-largest city in Minnesota, and the 5th-largest outside of the Minneapolis–Saint Paul metropolitan area. It is along a large bend of the Minnesota River at its confluence with the Blue Earth River. Mankato is across the Minnesota River from North Mankato. Mankato and North Mankato have a combined population of 58,763 according to the 2020 census. It completely encompasses the town of Skyline.
