Samsunspor Kulübü, officially known as Samsunspor Football Club Joint Stock Company, or as Reeder Samsunspor due to sponsorship agreements, is a Turkey, Turkish Football club (association football), professional football club that competes in the Süper Lig. The club represents the football branch of Samsunspor, Samsunspor Sports Club, and it attained professional status on June 30, 1965. In its early years, the football team played home matches at the İlkadım Athletics Stadium, City Stadium, but starting from the 1974–75 Turkish First Football League, 1974–75 season, they moved to the Samsun 19 Mayıs Stadium (1975), 19 Mayıs Stadium. Thomas Reis
Thomas Reis (, born 4 October 1973) is a German football manager and former professional player who's the current head coach of Süper Lig club Samsunspor. As a player, he began his career at Wertheim-Eichel and later played for clubs like VfB Stuttgart, Eintracht Frankfurt, and VfL Bochum, primarily in defensive and midfield roles. His career highlights include helping Bochum achieve Bundesliga promotion and playing for Germany U-21. After retiring, he transitioned to coaching, starting with Bochum’s youth department and eventually managing the senior team. 2024–25 Süper Lig
The 2024–25 Süper Lig, officially called the Trendyol Süper Lig Şamil Ekinci season, was the 67th season of the Süper Lig, the highest tier football league of Turkey. The season started on 9 August 2024 and ended on 1 June 2025. On 18 May 2025, Galatasaray secured their 25th Süper Lig title with a 3–0 win over Kayserispor, clinching the championship with two weeks to spare. They became the first and only Turkish football club to wear a fifth star on their logo. Galatasaray completed the season with 95 points on top with 30 wins, 5 draws and only 1 loss. The TFF 1. Lig (), currently referred to as Trendyol 1. Lig for sponsorship reasons, is the second level of the Turkish football league system. The league was founded in 2001 as the ''Turkish Second League Category A'' after the reorganization of the Second Football League, which was the second level of the Turkish league system between 1963 and 2001. The league was called ''Türk Telekom Lig A'' in the 2006–07 season, and was renamed to ''TFF 1. Lig'' prior to the 2007–08 season. As of 16 January 2008 the league was renamed as Bank Asya 1. Lig. Samsun 19 Mayıs Stadium
Samsun 19 Mayıs Stadium is a football stadium in Tekkeköy, Samsun, Turkey. It was opened in 2017 with a seating capacity of 33,919 spectators. It is the home ground of Samsunspor which plays in the Süper Lig. It replaced the club's former home ground, the old Samsun 19 Mayıs Stadium (located in Canik), which was demolished in 2018. The first official match hosted by the stadium was the 2017 Turkish Super Cup final. The 2023 Turkey–Syria earthquake, located in faraway Kahramanmaraş Province caused minor damage to the stadium. Tanju Çolak
Tanju Çolak (born 10 November 1963) is a Turkish former professional footballer who played as a forward. Club career Born in Samsun, Çolak made his debut for Samsun Yolspor. From there he was transferred to Samsunspor in 1981 where he was top scorer in both the 1985–86 and 1986–87 seasons. Çolak then moved to Galatasaray at the end of 1986–87 season. He was the top scorer in Europe with 39 goals in the 1987–88 season. At the same time, he was awarded the European Golden Boot given by France Football. He is the only Turkish footballer to date to win this award. Çolak became the top scorer again in the 1991–92 season, and transferred to Fenerbahçe at the end of the season. He had a lifetime total of 240 goals and took over the title of top goal scorer in the Turkish Super League by breaking the legendary record of Metin Oktay. The Balkans Cup was an international football competition for clubs from Albania, Bulgaria, Greece, Romania, Turkey, and Yugoslavia. Samsun is a List of largest cities and towns in Turkey, city on the north coast of Turkey and a major Black Sea port. The urban area recorded a population of 738,692 in 2022. Samsun 19 Mayıs Stadium (1975)
Samsun 19 Mayıs Stadium (), also known as Canik 19 Mayıs Stadium () from 2017 until its demolition in 2018, was a multi-purpose stadium in the Canik district of Samsun, northern Turkey. It was used mostly for association football, football matches and was the home ground of Samsunspor until the new Samsun 19 Mayıs Stadium was opened in 2017. The stadium had a seating capacity for 16,480 spectators. It was demolished in 2018. The stadium was named in remembrance of the landing of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, Mustafa Kemal Pasha (1881–1938) in Samsun on May 19, 1919, to start the Turkish War of Independence, national independence movement. Basri Dirimlili (7 June 1929 – 14 September 1997), nicknamed Mehmetcik Basri, was a Turkish football player. The Süper Lig (, ''Super League''), also known as Trendyol Süper Lig for sponsorship reasons, is a professional association football league in Turkey and the highest level of the Turkish football league system. In the 2023–2024 season, twenty clubs compete, where a champion is decided and three clubs are promotion and relegation, promoted from, and another four relegated to the TFF First League, 1. Lig.
