Samson Samsen
Samson Samsen is a Ni-Vanuatu politician and a member of the Parliament of Vanuatu from Espiritu Santo, Santo Rural. He has served as the Minister for Tourism, Trade, Commerce, & Ni-Vanuatu Business. Early career After studying at the Vanuatu Institute of Technology, Samsen was the president of the National Youth Council for seven years. He also served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Northern Islands Stevedoring Company Limited (NISCOL), a company based on the island of Espiritu Santo and which responsible for loading, unloading and trans-shipment of sea freight between the island and the other islands in the north of the country. Natuman
Joe Natuman (born 24 November 1952) is a Vanuatuan politician of the Vanua'aku Pati and former Prime Minister of Vanuatu. He is a graduate of the University of the South Pacific, and was also an exchange student at the University of Papua New Guinea. In the 1980s, he worked in the highest ranks of the civil service, culminating with the position of First Secretary to the Prime Minister's Office from 1987 to 1991, at the time of Prime Minister Walter Lini. He then worked as assistant registrar at the University of the South Pacific in Suva, Fiji, until 1995. Jotham Napat (born 7 August 1972) is a ni-Vanuatu politician and a member of the Parliament of Vanuatu from Tanna Constituency as a member of the Leaders Party of Vanuatu. 2025 Vanuatuan General Election
Snap general elections were held in Vanuatu on 16 January 2025, having been moved from 14 January 2025 due to the 2024 Port Vila earthquake on 17 December. The election results showed no political party winning a majority in Parliament of Vanuatu, Parliament, prompting the creation of a coalition government on 27 January. Alatoi Ishmael Kalsakau is a Vanuatuan politician who served as Prime Minister of the Republic of Vanuatu from 4 November 2022 until 4 September 2023. He is the head of the Union of Moderate Parties in Vanuatu. Career In 2005, Kalsakau was appointed the Legal Counsel of MCA Vanuatu, the Vanuatuan component of the Millennium Challenge Corporation. 2020 Vanuatuan General Election
General elections were held in Vanuatu on 19–20 March 2020. The elections were initially intended to be held on 19 March, but logistical problems resulted in some areas voting the following day. Electoral system The 52 members of Parliament were elected from eight single-member constituencies and ten multi-member constituencies (of between two and seven seats) by first-past-the-post and single non-transferable vote, respectively. Vanuatu ( or ; ), officially the Republic of Vanuatu (; ), is an island country in Melanesia located in the South Pacific Ocean. The archipelago, which is of volcanic origin, is east of northern Australia, northeast of New Caledonia, east of New Guinea, southeast of Solomon Islands, and west of Fiji.
