Samovodene ( ) is a village in Veliko Tarnovo Municipality, north-central Bulgaria. Geography The village is located about 10 km north of Veliko Tarnovo. Near the village is the source of the river Rakovets. Yantra (river)
The Yantra ( ) is a river in northern Bulgaria, a right tributary of the Danube. Reaching a length of 285 km, it is the seventh longest river in Bulgaria and the third longest Bulgarian tributary of the Danube. In the middle and lower course, the Yantra takes many turns forming numerous gorges. It has a high sinuosity index of 3.1, which is characteristic for meandering rivers. Its catchment spans a territory of 7,862 km2 and has a small mean slope value 4.6‰ with a mean altitude of 470 m. The city of Veliko Tarnovo, situated on several hills overlooking the river along its middle course, served as the capital of the Second Bulgarian Empire in the 12–14th centuries, and remains and important cultural, economic and tourist center in Bulgaria. Another major city on the river is Gabrovo, an early education and industrial hub of the country. Veliko Tarnovo Municipality () is a Municipalities of Bulgaria, municipality (''obshtina'') in Veliko Tarnovo Province, Central-North Bulgaria, located mostly in the so-called Fore-Balkan area north of Stara planina mountain. It is named after its administrative centre - the old capital of the country, the city of Veliko Tarnovo which is also the main town of the province. The municipality embraces a territory of with a population of 88,724 inhabitants, as of December 2009. Trifon Ivanov
Trifon Marinov Ivanov (; 27 July 1965 – 13 February 2016) was a Bulgarian professional footballer who played as a defender. Ivanov made his debut for Bulgaria in 1988, earning 76 caps and scoring 6 goals over a ten-year international career. He appeared in the 1994 and 1998 FIFA World Cups, as well as the 1996 UEFA European Championship. Club career Ivanov started his career with Etar Veliko Tarnovo. He made his first team debut during the 1983–84 A Group season, and established himself as a regular player two years later. Ivanov played 62 games and scored 7 goals for Etar in the A Group. After five seasons at Etar, Ivanov joined CSKA Sofia where he won two A Group titles, one Bulgarian Cup, and one Bulgarian Supercup. He made his debut in a 5–1 home league win over Botev Vratsa on 13 August 1988. Ivanov scored his first goal for the club on 12 October, in a 7–1 thumping of Sliven. Antoaneta Ivanova Todorova-Selenska (; born 8 June 1963) is a retired female javelin thrower from Bulgaria, who set the world record and the world's best year performance in 1981. She made her mark (71.88 m) at a meet in Zagreb on 15 August 1981. Todorova was born in Samovodene, Veliko Tarnovo, and competed in three Summer Olympics (1980, 1988 and 1992).
