The Sammarinese Christian Democratic Party ( it, Partito Democratico Cristiano Sammarinese, PDCS) is a Christian democracy, Christian-democratic List of political parties in San Marino, political party in San Marino. The PDCS is an observer member of the European People's Party (EPP), having joined the EPP in 1993. Its Italian counterpart was the now-dissolved Christian Democracy (Italy), Christian Democracy. Its internal left-wing faction left in 2006 to form the Centre Democrats (San Marino), Centre Democrats and was joined by the social democrats of Arengo and Freedom. Sammarinese Communist Refoundation
Sammarinese Communist Refoundation ( it, Rifondazione Comunista Sammarinese, RCS) was a communist political party in San Marino. It was a member of the European Left. History It emerged in 1992 when the old Sammarinese Communist Party evolved into the Sammarinese Democratic Progressive Party and some members, on the example of the Italian Communist Refoundation Party, decided not to join the new party. In the 2001 general election RCS won 3.4% of the vote, while in 2006 it gained 8.7% and 5 members of the Grand and General Council as part of the United Left, including the Left Party, a splinter group from the Party of Democrats. Since then it had been part of the 2006–2008 governing coalition along with the Party of Socialists and Democrats and Popular Alliance until tensions between its grouping, United Left, and the latter caused the coalition to disintegrate. Sammarinese Democratic Progressive Party
The Sammarinese Democratic Progressive Party (''Partito Progressista Democratico Sammarinese'', PPDS) was a democratic socialist political party in San Marino. Its Italian counterpart was the Democratic Party of the Left. The party was formed in 1990 as the successor to the Sammarinese Communist Party. In 1992 some hard-liners who did not accept the abandonment of communism left to form the Sammarinese Communist Refoundation. On 25 March 2001 the PPDS merged with two minor groups, the Ideas in Motion and the Socialists for Reform, into the Party of Democrats. Sammarinese Socialist Party
The Sammarinese Socialist Party ( it, Partito Socialista Sammarinese, PSS) was a socialist and, later, social-democratic political party in San Marino. Its Italian counterpart was the Italian Socialist Party and its international affiliation was with the Socialist International. There was a previous party of the same name existing from 1892 until 1926 when it was banned during Fascist rule. In the 1940s and 1950s the party was closely linked to the Sammarinese Communist Party (PCS) and this led the moderates of the party to split and form the Sammarinese Independent Democratic Socialist Party (PSDIS) in 1957. Later the PSS distanced itself from the PCS and entered in coalition with the Sammarinese Christian Democratic Party (PDCS) and PSDIS, which was re-united with the PSS in the early 1990s. Giuseppe Amici (6 January 1939 – 23 February 2006) was a Sammarinese politician. At the age of 25 he was elected to the Grand and General Council and remained its member until 2001.
