Samick Musical Instruments Co., Ltd. (, also known as Samick) is a South Korean musical instrument manufacturer. Founded in 1958 as Samick Pianos, it is now one of the world's largest musical instrument manufacturers and an owner of shares in several musical instrument manufacturing companies. Apart from its own brand, Samick manufactures musical instruments through its subsidiary brands, including pianos under the brands Wm. Silvertone (instruments)
Silvertone is a brand created and promoted by Sears for its line of consumer electronics and musical instruments from 1916 to 1972. The rights to the Silvertone brand were purchased by South Korean corporation Samick Music in 2001. Samick made new musical instruments under the Silvertone brand and relaunched some historic models. In 2020, RBI Music was appointed the exclusive worldwide distributor of the Silvertone brand, and in December 2021, RBI acquired all rights to the brand. Epiphone () is an American musical instrument brand that traces its roots to a musical instrument manufacturing business founded in 1873 by Anastasios Stathopoulos in İzmir, Ottoman Empire, and moved to New York City in 1908. Seiler Pianofortefabrik GmbH is a piano manufacturer in Kitzingen, Germany. The company was founded by Eduard Seiler in 1849 in Liegnitz, Silesia. By 1923 Seiler was producing up to 3,000 pianos per year, and became the largest piano manufacturer in Eastern Europe. After the WW2 and the loss of its production facilities, the company moved, first to Denmark, then, from 1961 onward, to the Bavarian town of Kitzingen. In 2008 the company was sold to Samick, a South Korean company. The company emphasizes that the instruments will always be manufactured separately with the Seiler line made in Germany. Washburn Guitars is an American brand and importer of guitars, mandolins, and other string instruments, originally established in 1883 in Chicago, Illinois. The Washburn name is controlled by U.S. Music Corp., a subsidiary of Canadian corporate group Exertis , JAM. A pickup is an electronic device that converts energy from one form to another that captures or senses mechanical vibrations produced by musical instruments, particularly stringed instruments such as the electric guitar, and converts these to an electrical signal that is amplified using an instrument amplifier to produce musical sounds through a loudspeaker in a speaker enclosure.
