"Sameyakh" or "Sameach" ( he, label=Hebrew script, שמייח; meaning "happy") is a Hebrew song by the pop band PingPong, a quartet consisting of Guy Asif, Roy Arad, Yifat Giladi and Ahal Eden. The song was the entry in the Eurovision Song Contest 2000. Themes The song describes an Israeli woman on a kibbutz who appears to be depressed, having a torrid affair with a Damascus man, who appears in the video in a traditional headdress, or keffiyeh. It makes references to wars and natural disasters such as floods, and when the reference to the cucumber is made, the singers sing into cucumbers. Tal Sondak
Tal Sondak ( he, טל סונדק; born July 23, 1976) is an Israeli singer. His musical career started at the age of ten as a member of a boys choir. He received several first prizes at children's song festivals, most recently as a 15-year-old, where he won with a song that he had written himself. He has represented Israel at several music festivals and sung for the Jewish community in Denmark, the USA, Switzerland and Canada. He has been a frequent guest on TV programs and in several musical projects in Israel. Roy Arad
Roy "Chicky" Arad (Hebrew: רועי "צ'יקי" ארד, born 1977) is an Israeli poet, singer, script-writer, artist, and political activist. Arad is the founder and former editor of '' Maayan'' magazine for poetry and a former journalist for Haaretz. Poetry and Literature Arad has published eight books. He formed a style that he called "Kimo" and defined as "a Hebrew adaptation of the Japanese Haiku": it consists of three lines of 10, 7, and 6 syllables. It usually describes one frozen scene that has no movement in it, and in practice, the content of the poems is close to Senryū. As an author, Arad published the book "The Israeli Dream" (Xargol- Am Oved) in 2010, "The Pelican" (Xargol-Modan) in 2013, and many short stories. Israel participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2001 in Copenhagen. Tal Sondak represented Israel with the song "En Davar". Before Eurovision Kdam Eurovision 2001 The final took place on 28 December 2000 at the Neve Ilan TV Studios in Jerusalem, hosted by Duo Datz and broadcast on Channel 1. The Eurovision Song Contest 2001 was the 46th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. It took place in Copenhagen, Denmark, following the country's victory at the with the song "Fly on the Wings of Love" by Olsen Brothers. Eytan Fox ( he, איתן פוקס; born on August 21, 1964) is an Israeli film director. Biography Eytan Fox was born in New York City. His family immigrated to Israel when he was two. His father, Seymour Fox, was a Conservative rabbi and a professor of Jewish education at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. His mother, Sara Kaminker-Fox, was the head of the Jerusalem city council and involved in Jerusalem urban planning. Fox has two brothers, David and Danny. He grew up in Jerusalem, served in the army, and studied at Tel Aviv University's School of Film and Television. He is openly gay and many of his films contain themes of homosexuality, as well as the effect the Israeli–Palestinian conflict has on interpersonal relationships. The Netherlands participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2000 with the song "No Goodbyes" written by Ellert Driessen and John O'Hare. The song was performed by Linda Wagenmakers. The Dutch broadcaster Nederlandse Omroep Stichting (NOS) organised the national final in order to select the Dutch entry for the 2000 contest in Stockholm, Sweden. Eight entries competed in the national final on 27 February 2000 where "No Goodbyes" performed by Linda Wagenmakers was selected as the winner following the combination of votes from twelve regional juries and a public vote. Linda Wagenmakers (born 30 November 1975, Arnhem) is a Dutch singer and voice actress. She started her career at 21 playing Kim in the Dutch version of the musical ''Miss Saigon''. She played in the RTL 4 drama series ''Westenwind'', for which she also recorded the song "Laat me vrij om te gaan". Wagenmakers voiced the Dutch version of Mulan in the Disney animation movie.
