Sameer Vidwans is an Indian film director, actor and writer known for his work in Marathi cinema. He won the Filmfare Award for Best Director – Marathi, Filmfare Awards Marathi for Best Director for ''Anandi Gopal'', at the 57th Maharashtra State Film Awards He won Maharashtra State Film Award for Best Director and the film also won the National Film Award for Best Film on Other Social Issues. Vidwans made his List of directorial debuts, directorial debut with the film ''Time Please'' and in 2023, he made his Bollywood debut with the romantic drama film ''Satyaprem Ki Katha'' starring Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani. Anandi Gopal
''Anandi Gopal'' is a 2019 Indian Marathi Biographical film directed by Sameer Vidwans and written by Karan Sharma and Irawati Karnik. The film follows the life of Anandi Gopal Joshi. It was jointly produced by Akash Chawla with Shareen Mantri Kedia. Bhagyashree Milind played the role of Anandi Gopal Joshi whereas Lalit Prabhakar played the role of Gopalrao Joshi. Plot The story revolves around the Anandi Gopal Joshi and her husband Gopalrao Joshi. She was born raised and married in Kalyan where her family had previously been landlords before experiencing financial losses. Due to pressure from her mother, she was married at the age of nine to Gopalrao Joshi, a widower almost twenty years her senior. After marriage, Gopalrao renamed her 'Anandi'. The National Film Award for Best Film on Other Social Issues was one of the category in the National Film Awards presented annually by the Directorate of Film Festivals, the organization set up by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting in India. The Filmfare Marathi Awards are presented annually to both artistic and technical excellence of professionals in the Marathi cinema, Marathi film industry of India.
