Samchillian
The Samchillian Tip Tip Tip Cheeepeeeee (or ''samchillian'', for short) is a type of electronic keyboard instrument invented by Leon Gruenbaum, that uses keys to trigger melodic intervals aka changes of pitch rather than the traditional fixed pitches. The Samchillian is listed as a "non-traditional" MIDI interface according to the MIDI Manufacturers Association. According to this source, patent #5,565,641 is applicable to the device. Explanation Synthesizers and midi instruments are commonly controlled with a piano-style keyboard, where each key triggers a specific pitch and are arranged in a low to high, left right configuration, where the 12 pitches of the equal tempered chromatic scale occur in succession with natural notes lying closer to the player, and accidentals aka flats and sharps staggered slightly forward and away from the player. New York Electric Piano
New York Electric Piano is an American jazz band created in 2003 by keyboardist Pat Daugherty. The band started as a trio with Aaron Comess (of Spin Doctors) playing drums and Tim Givens on double bass. For later albums, they expanded to six and then eight musicians. Their sixth album, ''Keys to the City'', spent a month in the top ten of CMJ's Jazz Chart. History New York Electric Piano began as a trio built around the sound of a Rhodes piano, Fender Rhodes. Daugherty, Givens, and Comess met in the late 1990s and started the band in 2003. The trio's first album, ''New York Electric Piano'', peaked in the top 20 of the CMJ Jazz Charts. In 2010, the band added a guitarist and a saxophonist and began to perform on a regular basis at the Zinc Bar in New York City. Vernon Reid
Vernon Alphonsus Reid (born 22 August 1958) is an American guitarist and songwriter best known as the founder of the rock band Living Colour. Reid was named No. 66 on ''Rolling Stone'' magazine's 2003 list of the 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time, and in August 2023, was ranked #42 in Rolling Stone Magazine top 250 Greatest Guitarists of all time. The MIDI Manufacturers Association (MMA) is a non-profit trade organization where companies work together to create MIDI standards comparison, MIDI standards that assure compatibility among MIDI products. Disklavier
Disklavier is a brand of reproducing pianos manufactured by Yamaha Corporation. The first Disklavier was introduced in the United States in 1987. The typical Disklavier is a real acoustic piano outfitted with electronic sensors for recording and electromechanical solenoids for player piano-style playback. Sensors record the movements of the keys, hammers, and pedals during a performance, and the system saves the performance data as a Standard MIDI File (SMF). On playback, the solenoids move the keys and pedals and thus reproduce the original performance. Modern Disklaviers typically include an array of electronic features, such as a built-in tone generator for playing back MIDI accompaniment tracks, speakers, MIDI connectivity that supports communication with computing devices and external MIDI instruments, additional ports for audio and SMPTE I/O, and Internet connectivity.
