''Samaya'' is the third studio album by Indian singer-songwriter Bipul Chettri. Bipul's EP, ‘Samaya’ (which means time, period or juncture) was written during the COVID-19 pandemic. It was praised by critics for its minimal, yet evocative, compositions. Production All songs of the album are written, composed, arranged and produced by Bipul Chettri. Bipul Chettri
Bipul Chettri is a singer-songwriter of Nepalese descent who sings in the Nepali language and plays Himalayan folk rock music with a contemporary touch. His debut album, '' Sketches of Darjeeling'', was released in July 2014 and his follow-up album, ''Maya'' in 2016 and several singles like 'Basant', 'Gahiro Gahiro', 'Ashish', 'Teesta', 'Mughlan', 'Neela Akash', 'Salala' and 'Bahra Mahina' in the following years. His EP, 'Samaya' was released in 2021. He is based out of New Delhi, India. Early life Bipul's grandfather was a poet and his grandmother used to play the sitar. It was started in January 1993 in Allahabad by Amit Saigal and Shena Gamat Saigal after they noted the lack of a support system for Indian rock musicians. The magazine has grown in popularity ever since and is now published from Delhi. It organizes the yearly Great Indian Rock Festival (GIR) to promote original music of new and upcoming rock bands in India. ''Sketches of Darjeeling'' is the debut studio album by singer/songwriter Bipul Chettri. The album is a collection of songs inspired by Bipul's life around the hills of Kalimpong and Darjeeling, two hill towns inhabited mostly by people of Nepalese ethnicities, that sits on the foothills of the Eastern Himalayas in the Indian state of West Bengal and close to the eastern border of Nepal and Bhutan. It explores the different elements and essence of life and culture of those areas with a blend of Nepali folk and contemporary western musical elements.
