Biplab Samantray (born 14 December 1988) is an Indian cricketer. He is a right-handed bowler and middle order batsman. In first class cricket, he plays for Odisha in Ranji Trophy. He played and captained Katak Barabati Tigers in Odisha Premier League in the inaugural edition and got the Man of the series award. He has played for the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL. The Karan or Karana is a community of scribes found in the state of Odisha in India. The post of Karana used to be a professional designation that was occupied by literate members of the lower as well as the higher castes. They also held Karanam post in some parts of Andhra Pradesh, where they speak Odia and played the similar role in Odisha as that of the Kayasthas of West Bengal and Bihar. Khandayat or Khandait is a landed militia caste from Odisha, East india. They were feudal chiefs, military generals, zamindars, large land holders and agriculturalists. During British raj, they ruled many tributary states in Odisha. They are largest caste by population in Odisha. Utkala Brahmins, also known as Utkal Brahmins, are a Brahmin community who belong to the state of Odisha, India. Utkala Brahmins are the historical caretakers of the Jagannath Temple in Puri. The Utkala Brahmins are one of the five Pancha Gouda Brahmin communities that originally resided to the north of the Vindhyas. They constitute about 7% of Odisha's population.
